How many fans got turned away tonight upon arrival at the Coliseum? We were dumbfounded when the parking attendant told us the midget races were sold out well before 6:30! Thinking there had to be some kind of miscommunication and with kids in tow, we went inside anyway and -- luckily were still able to purchase tickets. The clerk warned there might not be any seats available but we did find some in the end section between a couple rows so all was fine there.
It definitely was a full house with people standing around all over the place including the balcony and aisles. We didn't go Friday night so don't know what the crowd was like. But darn near every other person walking by tonight was wearing Tony Stewart Nascar apparel leading us to suspect that a lot of die-hard open wheel fans maybe got turned away due to the onslaught of Nascar fans. Can't decide if this was a good or bad thing.
Tony did put on a heckuva show for those in attendance winning from mid-pack while driving a clean race. The car would go anywhere for him -- he was the class of the field.

It wasnt nowhere near as full Friday night. A pretty decent crowd, but not like Saturday. I went in at 5PM and was surprised how many ppl were there. Got a decent seat in the bleachers in turn one,and we pretty much stayed put all night. Friday night you could wander around a bit and not worry about having your seat when you came back.

Yes Tony did , BUT he did spin the 97 car out, there for Tony should have went to the tail! Dave went to the tail when a car spun in front of him and look where Dave ended up 2nd... Dave put on a excellent clean race.

Yea, better ventilation would have been a lot nicer. I don't remember it being that bad in year's past. The pit area afterwards was horrible!

Maybe the large turnout was due to the nice weather.
I remember going to Ft. Wayne as a kid, and the ride home was long and slow because the roads were horrible!!

I was upset that we had bought reserved seats weeks prior to the show, and was told by Mr. Barhorst (sp?) that I could pay an extra $8 a ticket and get in the Pits. reserved was $22 & pit pass was $30. (dont for get the $4.50 ticketmaster charge per ticket, but I accept that for buying them early in my hometown Ohio)It sounded like any other track right? Wife & I get there to pay the $8 per tix extra for the pit pass and was told I had to turn over my reserved seat tix to get a GA/pitpass. I was like WTF? She (ticket lady) told me I could keep my reseved but pay $30 each for my wife & I for the Pit Pass. I bit my lip and said no thanks. I just hope they dont do this next year.
