The Sprint Bandits started in 2004, originally as a 410 Winged Sprint Car Series with a Spec-Cylinder Head rule. The first race was at Devil's Bowl, TX and won by Sammy Swindell. Shane Stewart won the Series Championship. After the season ended, it was announced that the series was over.
In 2005, the series was reborn, this time for 410 Non-Wing Sprint Cars (without a Spec-Cylinder Head rule) . They took over some of the dates that had traditionally been part of the NWWC / SCRA Midwest Tour. Most notable dates are the $30,000 To Win Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa, Iowa and the 2-nights at Lakeside Speedway.
The series champions are 2005- Levi Jones, 2006- Jon Stanbrough, 2007- Robert Ballou & Tim Kaeding.

Spec sprints are an "economy" class of traditional sprints. Basically a wingless sprint with a cast iron 360 and 2-barrel carb. Pretty popular class in NorCal these days.
SPEC = Sprint Part Economy Class
