The weather is lookign fine for the National Open in WG, high of 69°F Sat and cooling off into the 50's & 40's later the evening, but no liquid sunshine or white death in the forecast.
I see other sprint car races scheduled for URC in Delaware (dry forecast, 70° to 52°F, coastal areas stay slightly warmer) Path Valley Speedway in PA (similar weather to WG anoted above), Gas City Speedway, Patriot Sprints at Outlaw Speedway, OVSCA at Ohio Valley Speedway, MOWA at Jacksonville, Speedway, Silver Crown/Midgets at IRP, USAC EC at New Egypt, ASCS in Sapulpa this weekend as well.
I hope they are all blessed with good eweather and more importantly good attendance.
I'm curious, outside of liquid sunshine or white death, freezing temps, what other types of weather would delay or cancel a sprint car or open wheel dirt track race?
Scheduling races this late in the season is a rsk, due to many factors, beyond weather, Fri night HS football games, Sat college games/sports in general.
I've sat in the stands at Eldora and watched a white out in the late March or early spring races. Also sat in the stand in mid to late Oct, like now and watched with a T shirt. Also sat in freezing weather in Fl in Feb racing...

And guess what, you can't control any of it. Every true dirt track fan has sat thru it all. When they plow the snow off the track in the spring there will be those diehards there just because they want to see sprint cars in posse land. It doesn't get much better.

Digs,
High winds have caused some sprint car race cancellations. Makes sense. Here is an example.

Porch forecast looks good. Lets go racing.

There is bad weather throughout the year....don't limit it to the spring and fall.
You can get bad storms in the middle of summer too.
I have already seen them cancel because it was too windy to race sprinters.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Wasn't the Knoxville Nationals postponed one year due to fog?
Has a sprint car race every been called off because of lightning? You'd think that wing would be a bigger target that a golf club.

There are several tracks up by Lake Superior that occasionally get fogged out. I experienced myself at the track in Proctor, Minnesota. There is a lot season stock car and modified "topless" aka take the sheet metal off the roll cage this weekend in Ogilvie, Minnesota. I don't go to any races after the last Sprint Car race in the area in September. I went to a few of these late season specials and the weather can be brutal. We are having a nice weekend with low to mid 70's today before it gets colder later this week. I've seen people in the stands wearing snowmobile suits a few times and that is too damn cold for me.
