Going the crew chief route until I get back in the seat. I have a ton of experience, designed and built cars back in the Southwest. Have references as well.

Currently located in Metro Detroit.

302 401 8-4-4-1

Ultimately in the future, I want to build custom cars (sprints, midgets, even micros) for a team.

Over 900 views and nothing... Please spread the words guys. Any team that you may know of in Michigan or North Ohio. I made a little resume, if you want to copy and paste it... I appreciate any help and like my dad I never forget the people that help me.

Offering my services as a crew chief

Intro

I miss sprint car racing too much and if I cant drive, being a crew chief is the next best thing. I designed and built my own cars and raced back in the southwest. I have references and a lot of experience. My dad is Tony Diaz, you may have heard of him. He made a name building cars for the Posse in the late 70s and 80s and guys back in the Southwest. My career as a race car driver was cut short as my multi-million dollar car owner pulled the plug and kept all my stuff before I went pro. That's why I am relatively unknown. Thinking I could easily get back in, I opened a CNC shop and focused on that, then a few years later, trying to return seemed pretty much impossible. Currently, I have a state of the art car designed up in CAD and have the CNCs ready (I run a CNC shop in Clawson, MI).

Goal

My long term goal would be to find a gentleman or gentlemen that want to build a small race team. Possibly have a small 2 car team or larger, including sprint cars, midgets and possible micros. I drive one car while my team mate/s drive the other.

Skills I have a wealth of experience in motorsports. I have designed, fabricated, machined and built several race cars. I also worked as a team manager building teams from the bottom up. Last but not least have experience as a driver. I am a Manufacturing/Design Engineer with over 20 years of machining and manufacturing experience, over 15 years Programming experience with 10+ years in 5 axis aerospace and motorsports work, including Process Engineering and over 15 years Design experience. I have over 15 years' experience with MasterCam, Solidworks and Various Autodesk products. I have good management skills, having owned my own company and managed a leading manufacturing company.

Tech

I am a fully qualified race car engineer. Cars I have built started with a clean sheet of paper and raw stock/materials. In other words, built from scratch! Sprint cars are my specialty, but I have worked on other projects as well. I am familiar with everything from wheelbase to track width, bar heights, motor heights, aerodynamics, roll center, center of gravity, polar moment of inertia, and everything between. As a race car driver, I have learned and worked with many drivers from Sonny Holden to Jac Haudenschild to Doug Wolfgang. I also spent some time at both the Bob Bondurant and rick McCormick racing schools.

Who I am

So the story begins with my dad Tony Diaz: factory rider for Haley Davidson in the 60s, and eventually Sprint car builder and team manager. Most of you may know of him for his innovations in Sprint car racing. His best years where racing with the PA Posse at their peak. Some of the drivers that drove his cars include Roy Hicks, Dub May, Bobby Unser Jr, Ron Shuman, Sonny Holden, Ted Lee, Steve Siegel, George Bishoff, Jac Haudenschild, Jerry Coons Jr and more. I made a decision early on to basically work alongside him and build cars and work on the race teams he built. This eventually led me to driving which I found I had a love and natural talent for. Fast forwarding a bit to the late 90s, my dad and I worked for a guy who wanted to eventually go to Indy. This, what seemed to be the opportunity of a lifetime, actually ended my racing career before it even got a chance to take off due to an unfortunate incident. However, I got to build my first car of my design and drive it. In the 2000s I opened my own business, doing CNC and fabrication work and prototyping for MSD Ignition and other companies. I figured I would get back in with very little problems however, its proving to be very challenging.
