Good, the "pacing" to make one RR last all night would have been ridiculous.

I actually enjoyed the break at 30 laps.  It was fun watching the crews make changes on the cars and hear some comments from drivers during the break.  I wouldn't want every race to have scheduled stops but the way it played out last night was interesting.  I think they had a good idea to combine a week of Outlaw racing like that.

Why have an option of a harder tire if they allow you to change your gummy after 30?  In order to provide a good race the winner usually controls a pace while others may blast away & use their stuff up. 50 laps on a 1/4 mile should not need a fuel stop or a tire change.  Husets track prep actually made the track to good around the bottom because the cushion never moved up higher than needed for a more competitive race.  JMO

I'll guarantee that the old American Racer tire from the mid 90's would have been able to complete a 50 lap race without a tire change.

And then a local team would have bought it for $50 and run it for a couple more weekly shows.

That tire provided some awesome racing and gave the low buck teams a chance to compete.

Totally agree about the American Racer tires lasting much longer than today's tire.

I remember when the Rubins implemented the American Racer 50 compound/durameter right rear tire @ Husets back in '96 & that rule lasted about 10 years before Hoosier came along w/their tires, which have been the brand used ever since.

Definitely helped the local racers on tire costs back during that time.

I was wondering the same thing but if Mr Gibson sees this post there will be clarification on it and I'm sure per the rule book. Feel free to jump in at anytime Mr Gibson.

I believe that all cars have to pass the flag stand on the initial start in order for the first lap to count. Johnny can clarify.

Who thinks this show should be moved to a weekend next year? I felt like having it on a Mon/Tues kept casual fans away who might otherwise attend on a weekend. I think I would structure the week like this:

Sat- WoO prelim show

Sun- Husets 50

Mon- (rain date)/ USAC or some gimmick local show

Tues- Off

Wed- USAC or 360 race at Jackson

Thu-Sat- Jackson Nats

I think that schedule would still encourage travellers but also allow more casual fans to attend the big race At Husets.

On any start (initial or restart), ALL cars (except those involved in an accident) must cross the line for the lap to be scored. Otherwise, as long as the leader and one other car (whether second place or a lapped car) cross the lap is scored.  All cars that cross BEFORE the yellow is displayed are scored in the order they cross, everyone else is scored the way they were running the previous lap. This is called "split yellow" scoring and has been used by the World of Outlaws as long as I've worked for the series.  It's also the most common scoring system for tracks that run a weekly 410 program.
