I'm just going off memory but it seems to me that the 15 has a different main sponsor every year.

Any theories??? Too much money to do 2 years in a row, good salesman but not enough return on the investment, there is a waiting list and new donors are willing to up the anti year by year.....

What do you think Napa or CarQuest dish out for a season?

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Until recently Advanced and Carquest were one company.  I believe they are seperate now.  So that may be why last year was Advance and this year Carquest.  I think thats the case anyways.

What do I think?  I think that I spent a lifetime working in a corporate setting for large companies and that I go to races to forget about bean counting.  I just enjoy the races and don't give a damn or concern myself with the business side of the sport.  That is what I think.

Depends on how you look at it. While on the surface it looks like he has had a lot of different sponsors every year, many instances it is the same parent company. For instance all of the years he had Armor All and STP, that was 1 parent company that owned both brands. I forget all of the corporate purchases and who took over who but I believe the Bad Boy Buggies/Artic Cat/Textron years was 1 parent company as well, it just depended on what the main company was at that time. Not sure what the make up is for Carquest & Advanced but he had both on the car last year as well. Just depends on the marketing department for the company.

So really in a span of 12-13 years he's had basically 3-4 parent company corporate sponsors? Not really all that bad.

Well happy "terrible Tuesday" to you to... haha Smile You alright? I know next weeks cold looks to suck but Rod was just interested in some of the business side of sprints and I think that's ok. Is it ever our place to discuss teams, sponsors, tracks, rumors, etc ?? Nah but that's why we're here hiding behind a screen name.

What do I think? I think I've spent my whole life at the beach surfing (I'm a professional surfer), and when I go to the races I spend the entire evening just thinking about all the corporate backing on these race cars. The business side of the sport is very interesting to me it's all I concern myself with to be honest.

This is an interesting topic and I'd like to learn more about it. That is what I think.

You beat me to it.

In response to the original poster----Also worth noting, Tony Stewart has a nice pool of sponsors to work with in general.  Would it be far fetched for us to believe he sells the WoO sponsorship to the highest bidder every year?  Not saying he doesn't have to pound the pavement and pitch the sale, but at the end of the day, with all of the names he is working with, I would have to believe he has multiple offers to start the year.  Just my thoughts.

I was thinking along the same lines. If you have a successful, winning driver who's got a squeaky clean image , is in a stable, long-term team situation, you might get to choose your sponsors.
