Lets just hope the local guys all decide to race this weekend its really the last chance for alot of the middle and smaller teams to make a race with only Outlaw shows at Port and the Grove.

The purse is great and Shawn and Heffner are really working to get the place going.

Selinsgrove has been producing arguably the best 410 racing of any track in the area when they run there. Granted, they don't run weekly but every 410 show this year has been incredible. I don't know what they're doing but they need to keep it up. Every show has produced close, intense racing with a lot of passing and the crazy thing is, the track doesn't have to be hard and dry to make it happen which is pretty much unheard of at the big tracks these days. It's the best of both worlds. The raw speed is still there and the racing itself is 10 out of 10.

Some of the best races that I have attended in Central Pa, for the 410's this season, have been at Selinsgrove...I know Port Royal is the" crown jewel" of the Central Pa tracks in a lot of eyes, but I scratch my head and wonder why Selinsgrove does not get more love from the drivers and fans. Yes the track is wicked fast, but in all honesty, The Port has torn up a lot of equipment this season, especially over the last 4 to 6 races. I hope the fans support the race on Saturday. There is not a bad seat in the house since they moved the pits out of the infield.

Was it driver error or the tracks fault? I've seen alot of driver error the past few weeks.

Some new clay and track prep makes a big difference.  Pay attention Port Royal.

Actually I think it's the other way around. Last year Selinsgrove got some if the red clay like they have at Port, and this year they've been prepping it more like Port does - a little slicker but making sure the top doesn't go away. It's resulted in better racing.

A lot of driver error. Some as a result of everyone polishing the tin with their right rears. I think letting more of a cushion build would make a big difference in the latter. Then guys could still rip the fence and you'd see a lot less of the cars getting sucked into that wall and in many cases, crashing. A cushion would act as a bit of a buffer zone I think. I like rim riding as much as the next guy but something really bad is gonna happen over at the exit of turn 2 going on to the backstretch.

The best drivers don't want a crutch to lean on. Then the best drive around the turn and the rest bounce off the fence. That is not my opinion that is the opinion of a of drivers I have talked to.

I've talked to drivers too. How does a cushion act like a crutch? It takes a great amount of throttle control and car control to navigate a cushion.

In regards to the track prep and set up at Port Royal, in talking to several drivers regarding the way it's currently....many have told me, they asked for it to be that way. That they all wanted it the way it is and that the track gave it to them. Now, they are all looking at it and saying, well...they gave us what we wanted.

Many drivers are now scratching their heads trying to figure out what they could maybe have different that fits what they want. And this is straight from the drivers mouths.

Also, the clay at Port Royal came from out of the area, which is why it was soo good. There is likely a need for more new clay, but that stuff they got before isn't available anymore. So it's trying to find something that matches and is similiar

That's exactly what I've been told. Most of the drivers aren't a fan at all of banging against the fence. That's just what you have to do to win at Port these days so that's what they do.

Exactly, especially when the cushion is right up along the fence. It separates the drivers from the stomp and steer cowboys. You put a big cushion lower on the track like some people are suggesting, then it will be slot cars around the cushion. It depends on the layout of the track too. Port has pretty good banking in the turns which tends to make it a high groove track to begin with.

RACE DAY. I know Selinsgrove will have a good crowd, but car count is always a mystery when the 410's run. Hopefully they get north of 35 or 40 cars, which will make for 4 competative heats and a good feature. Almost forgot that Logan Wagner is the defending champion.

I'd guess more like 25-30 cars. Probably 35-40 305's. Drizzling in Selinsgrove right now. Hope they didn't started watering the track yet. Don't want a high speed parade like last year.

I think it's time for a crew chief change on the FVP CASEY'S GENERAL STORES #21.

High speed parade like every year. I don't know what it is about this race but every year it seems they are only interested in setting new track records instead providing a racey surface. It's kind of a shame being their biggest race of the year and a chance to showcase the track, but they only want to talk about how "super fast" it is all night long. It's no wonder a race that pays 20G to win/600 start only draws 26 410's and 1 360 in the hotbed of central PA. You would think they would get a clue when they interview the drivers and they are all hoping the track widens out enough to race on. At least the 305's had a good race and lots of passing as the track was finally getting into race shape for their feature.

Sorry but I absolutely LOVED IT!!  That is what I want to go see in sprint car racing.  Flat out, high speed racing.  Not ice skating around the track like a certain other Saturday night track.  Just wish the travel time wasnt so far or I would be there every Saturday night.  If the drivers dont have the ball to run flat out then go somewhere else, stay home or retire.  Great job Selinsgrove Speedway!!!!!!!!!!!

I was dissappointed again. High speed non-passing track again. Last week Lincoln had a terrible track too. It's a shame these tracks don't put up a nice surface for their showcase events. Selinsgrove brags about speed , Lincoln brags about how many races they run , but the fans and drivers are there for a good race and neither have been able to do it the last few years.

I don't get it. Why would anyone rave about a high-speed train race as opposed to a race with actual passing?

They do go somewhere else lol. I'm not from central pa but everytime I hear drivers talking that have raced there they rave about Ports surface and say it's easily the best in central PA. Just think for a second, if port races 20k to win last night how many cars would show up compared to this race. Buy a pit pass and talk to the drivers, they'll tell ya. Hammer down is great for hot laps and qualifying and that's it
