I'm a bit behind on my Hosehead reading so I'm a little late to the party. Let me first say I'm not a Dietrich fan so yes, I wanted him to start where he should but I don't think it is as bad as what it is being made out to be. That initial crash had multiple cars involved that came to a stop on the track. Trout, Marks and Kendall were done for the night. Dietrich and Macri got through but had damage and pitted. Billy Dietrich, Montieth, and Moody and possibly Leppo were involved, stopped on the frontstretch and then pitted but were able to continue along with Dietrich and Macri who came back out. Remember they only had 21 cars and Wolfe was to start last. After that crash my calculations put Wolfe, who wasn't involved but came to a stop on the frontstretch to avoid and didn't pit, now starting 12th. The cars that were able to continue should have begun with the first car in 13th. Instead, Lucas was 13th and Danny lined up 12th. This was two spots better than Dietrich's original starting position of 14th. As the involved cars rejoined the lineup, they weren't put in any kind of order according to the original lineup but lined up according to who got in line first and Dietrich got there first. Moody started on the tail because he got out last. At best Dietrich should've lined up 13th which is one spot worse than where he actually restarted in 12th. All that said, that outside starting spot was very helpful because he went to the outside and in one lap got to 6th. He did pass a few cars on his own but got help when Shearer who started 2nd did a 360 and kept going but dropped quite a bit in the running order and Michalski, started 6th, slowed bringing out the first caution. During that caution Bruce mentioned Dietrich's move forward and I recall hearing him saying he started 14th. Originally yes but not on the restart. 12th to 6th with 2 of those spots having issues. They do need to do a better job scoring and I was disappointed the flagman waited so long to throw the caution when Campbell slowed coming down the frontstrech. Everyone knew he couldn't make it off the track but it still took a while before the caution flew.
