I plan on formulating a letter to the city officials, as will everyone else in our core group of campers

You have incorrect infomation here. The city is updating the rules for camping in the city limits, but it is still allowed durring all major racing events. The city clarified it on their Facebook page yesterday.

You are correct Q11. The debate is regarding whether homeowners will be allowed to have permanent hookups installed. Nothing regarding prevention from camping during the nationals. Please research before you post.

Good news from the last two posts.
There is nothing quite like killing an opportunity for a little extra income for home owners.

Thanks for the clarification I just seen that camping was going to be brought up again. They tried to stop it a few years back so I thought it was same thing. Sorry

I read the update, and am still confused. Someone clarify..
20 year camper on private property in Knoxville
We do have auxilliary electrical hookups for already in place for 5 to 7 campers. No sewer, water out of a hydrant on the side of the house.
We stay for two weeks.
How will I be affected.

You won't be affected at all. They aren't adding any restrictions durring the major racing events.

Here's a link to a short article from KNIA-KRLS explaining what's going on.

Agreed, it doesn't apply for the Nationals.
The town seems to be worried that houses will have campers there from Apr to Sept and the town will look like the Nationals (albeit on a much smaller scale) all summer. I can understand them not wanting that.

Theres a camper exemption at Knoxville for 14 days during the Nationals. I wish they would refer to this time frame, instead of "The Nationals" Which is 4 days. I can also understand (and agree with) that they do not want full time campers littered around town, but I dont see how that could possibly happen when they already have the ruling in place that its for 2 weeks only.
