Why is that Knoxville can always complete their racing program without having to rework the track between races and other tracks can’t?

Port looks they only sprinkled a little water since the last raced in March.  Track gets a F- again.  Razor Steve doesn't have a clue!!

The track crew is the best in the business is the main reason but also the type of dirt/clay and it seems they start a little later than most places. They are able to do that because they run their program efficently so they don't have to worry about the heat & sun drying out the track during qualifying and heat races

Went races tonight. Saw 41 410's mid thirties Super Latemodels, 20 limit Latemodels and Strawser is complaining about a race that he did not attend. All is right with world again at least for a while.

Because that place is awesome, they really know what they are doing. I was there a couple of years ago and I watched some darn good winged racing on a half mile. I hope to go back again

If a track needs reworked to make it better I can deal with it usually.

I am glad I didn't go.  I fugured the track surface would be shit.  After 40+ of not missing weekly races at the Port, I now call Lincoln my home and favorite track.  I will give Port Royal a 100% approval on the facility.  But they need to put some money in the track service or get someone who nows how to put enough water down and prep the track surface!

Sorry, but Knoxville TRIED to rework tack the first regular show with 410-360-Pace cars.  They did this on top 1/3 of track.  All they got were dry clods of dirt with no moisture that you could not repack.  This took time with no results.

Wrong, Knoxville spent roughly 15 minutes knocking down a cushion that had gotten pretty tricky for an opening night event and was already close to the wall.  They did it to save race cars not to rework anything.

They have absolutely no grip in 3 and 4.  What a discrace that track prep is over at the slow palace.  If I were Freddie I would not be back!!

Watched it on speedshift and razor Steve should be FIRED!  Tonight and last night track was/is junk well before qualifying is over. Two night of asphalt racing at the slow palace.  Great facility...now they need someone to prepare the track.

I agree!  I wish they would get rid of Razor Steve and bring in the chemist that Lincoln uses.

They know what they're doing and they put out a consistent product week in, and week out.

What's amazing is that the track on Saturday night was "totally different" in some of the interviews of the drivers---and I'm not saying it wasn't-----but the racing was great again.  Track was "different" but really the end result was no dust, no rubber, and 2-3 grooves all night!!  They have it down to a science for sure and they execute it to perfection.  As Nick14 pointed out---start time, start time, start time.  If there is no weather threat, there will not be a race until the sun drops below the trees.  I heard (and read) plenty of people complaining about the fact that push trucks were still running the track in at 7:15.  It will be that way next time, the time after, and the time after that.  You want a good show or an early show?  I'll take the good show every single time unless there is a threat of rain at 10:00!!!

Keep up the good work Knoxville!

Starting later is the way to go. Less support classes and later start time makes for a much better night. Perfect example was the difference between Donnellson and Burlington at the non-wing races last weekend. Donnellson started at 7pm with 2 support classes and had an excellent show and never had to touch the track. Burlington started at 6 with 4 support classes and had to rework track 3 times and the first dusty feature started close to midnight.

How many sprint cars where there ? How many SLM's where there ? Ya I'd say they have no idea what there doing.  I also think that if a few of the name drivers/ owners went to  address the track situation  you would see a change. Watch that car count next week, pretty confident it will be about the same.

I'm pretty sure Strawser and his boy toy Wingedspeed are giggling together as they sit in their living room.  They are hootin' and laughing because they love each others comments.

Now, on to the real world. I was there, both nights, so I can actually comment with some first hand knowledge.  Yes, the track turned into a slip and slide both nights, as I expected.  But if you watch the race, in person, you see what Strawser and his man boy Wingedspeed dont see, that's tons of passing throughout the field.  Saturday night's race had tons of passing in all divisions and Sunday night's did as well.  Would I prefer a less dry, slick track....yes, of course.  But there were plenty of exciting moments the entire weekend.

My biggest issue with Port, aside from certain voices (and maybe one will quote me on Twitter again, lol), is the fact that they give hot laps sessions so many laps that it feels like a feature each and every time.  So when you have a ton of cars, like this weekend, the track gets used up so quickly.  You had almost 100 total cars there Saturday and last night was close to 80 so you can see how tons of laps in warm ups can burn up the track. Wait, so many cars?? That's not possible, Strawser says the track sucks so they couldn't possibly get that many cars. Now I'm confused because he is the authority on track prep.

So, in conclusion.....Port is just fine, could be a bit better and Strawser's opinion really means nothing to anyone, but great for laughs.
