jd from what i hear these are the options

1. the restrictor plate deal (im not sure if we'll have to use these on just the super speedways only or the short tracks also)

2. a vacumn rule combined with some kind of compression rule.

3. spec aluminum intakes and stock rockers

i personally believe the factory stock car count isnt gonna change over night it dont matter which of these new rules they vote in its going to take some rule enforcement from the officials week in and week out to make guys wanna come out. most guys would rather stay home then come out there and be lap traffic because of what it costs to be competitive. i just see the restrictor plate deal as another pointless cost because its just something else you have to buy and i really doubt a out of town guy is gonna show up and buy this plate from the race track just to race with us a couple times a year. so heres a idea for you people if you really wanna try and save this deal if its not already to late lets think back to when we actually had a good car count which was 5-6 years ago back when we had the motor claim has anyone ever considered why imca is so succesful its not cause of all these rules that say you can do this but you cant do this its cause ya you can put some big $$$$$ in a motor but you may go out there stroke em and win but someone may come take that high dollar motor off your hands so personally i dont plan on voting for any of these changes every rule change brings fewer cars and personally between the money i've spent the last few years trying to keep my car up to par whether it was mufflers torque tube brake bias etc i just assume keep my car like it is vs buying more parts to go race with the same 12-15 cars cause thats all your gonna have until rules are enforced without prejudice. so with this going on at the city and meeker going to rules that might as well be pro/street type i guess i'll be heading to ada america on saturday nights until things change here, unless of course they decide to change something to

you gonna be mad shawn if i get enough drivers to show up and vote that these three rules change options are shit!! and the only viable option is not even being voted on the more i think bout this deal the more it pisses me off. is it to god damn inconvenient for the officials to stay there late if someone wants to claim cause i guarantee ya thats why we dont have that option to vote on no one wants to be there late i dont really see it being any bigger a problem than tearing down after your third win.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I remember the old claiming rule was a bit more complicated than it might seem. Someone who isn't senile can fill in the details, but about ten years ago two drivers were a few points apart coming to the last race of the season. It was arranged that a third party would claim the leader's engine. Word got out that the claim had been made, so the guy did everything he could to blow the motor up right after the race, before it could be pulled. Seems to me you also had to trade short blocks on a claim, and the one that was traded was really on its last legs. Point is, any rule can be messed with, and any rule can cause problems. Until finishing second within the rules is a better deal than getting caught cheating (or being an ###) nothings going to change. Racers want to win. Period. Seen Ben Hur lately?

I don't think Shawn is going to be mad at ya as I don't think he cares that much as he is moving into the modifieds next year. BUT I do think that Shawn is concerned about the division that he grew up racing all these years in. I think ALL current drivers AND former drivers of the factory stock division ought to give imput and opinions (constructive) because you are paving the way for future full-bodied drivers at SFS and maybe beyond.

david i've known shawn was going to move up for quite some time now i talk to the man on a weekly basis, and honestly i think a lot of people including shawn are kind of fed up trying to fix this deal because it ultimately comes down to what the promotor wants to do i've raced in this class for about seven years now and it upsets me to see it in the state it is cause it use to have a very good car count. and yes galen i remember the situation you are referring to any rule can be manipulated unless the race track wants to punish those who break rules. i know the sprint classes are doing good on counts but the full bodied classes are hurtin i see less people in the stands than ever and i would just hate to see the place that i have so many memories of shut down

I am moving up , but I still may have a ride in a factory next year . So yes I am concerned about the class , plus its the class I cut my teeth on and grew up with . I love the factory stocks and always will , its an exiting class .

Everyone agreed on a spec aluminum intake , and now it has to be approved by lanny . Although it will not slow the cars down "which nobody wants anyways" Itis a step in the right direction , by giving everyone the same amount of airflow goin in to work with .

For those of you who have monoballs they are out !

Another discussion was brought up about removing the beadlock wheels , It seemed like all but a few were for that . In my opinion a beadlock is a saftey factor and still needs to be optional . The reasoning behind taking them away is that you would have to run more air in your tires and that would slow everyone down . Everyone knows you can buy an extreme bead wheel and a 50 dollar tube and get away with running low air , But it costs more than a beadlock todo that . So take it for what its worth .

It really suprised me Tom showed a lot of concern for the factory stock division it seems like he put fourth a lot of thought and effort to his ideas he brought to the table "KUDOS"

What are you going to do for the out of town cars?  I don't know of another track that allows alum intakes on factory stocks.  I think it limits the growth of the class.  Kind of like spec alum heads on a pro stock.... how did that turn out.

Aluminum heads on a factory stock? Is this real? Sounds more like a dream than a thought out plan.

Is this what you guys voted for? Please, someone in the know, write on here what the factory stock engine rule is gonna be. I'd like to know. SFS needs that class. Not another version of semi-late model. AKA pro-stock.
