Why can’t the promoters settle on just one PPV provider than requiring me to purchase several different subscriptions in order to watch no fans sprint car and late model races. By my count so far there are SpeedShiftTV, DIRTVision and MyRacePass.

Ha, you aren't even close. There's also Dirt On Dirt, Dirtstation and FloRacing.

Racinboys if you want to see the ASCS 360 series. I've enjoyed too many Dirt Cup years to not watch them as the travel around the country.

There's a whole long list of valid reasons actually. And why do we want a monopoly on such a service, other than convenience of logging on.

How is it working just having a few large monopolies controling the meat industry? That sould answer your question. That and many entities were under contract before this all started.

I wish they would all make Roku apps available.  It could be argued that Roku should make a decent web browser app available and they may have done that since the last time I checked their new apps.

Aside from that I am juggling two PPV, Floracing and Dirtvision and schedules are starting to come together for both.  I watch the Late Models as well so looking at the schedules I opted to pass on the VIP for Saturdays race which at $5 more than the single race cost is a good value but with NASCAR coming online with two races per week, Flo and Dirtvision there was no way I was going to be able to juggle them all and get my money's worth.

Too many races is hardly a problem but I had to draw the line due to the crazy scheduling we are seeing this year.

As a footnote, I checked for the latest info on Roku and they offer two free browsers that won't handle video and there is a third party web browser for $4.99 per month but those $4.99 per month add up to fast.  I bought a Fire Stick last year for around $35 one time cost that I use to stream PPV services that don't provide Roku apps.  My wifi is kind of spotty in the family room so I picked up a wifi signal booster for about $50 and that has beefed up the signal enough to watch races without any issues.  My TV's are hard wired to ethernet so that is why I wish there was a Roku web browser or that all PPV services made a Roku app available.

It seems that the PPV service that bills itself as the industry leader would provide apps for Roku and a couple others that I understand they don't have.  Floracing has one as well as a few other PPV that cover regional racing other than Sprints so would not be familiar to most on this forum.  I would think they would all want to reach out and make the viewing experience as good as possible on all of the popular platforms.  They sell a lot of the 4k capable TCL Roku TV's at the big box stores so it's getting to be fairly common for people to expect to be able to connect through Roku.  As I pointed out there are other hoops that can be jumped through to make it work but it's a bit of a hassle that comes with added expense and not everyone has the patience or knowledge to do the research and find a solution.

I know on the Open Red podcast they've said an app is in development for DirtVision.  Not sure what devices it will support (selfishly hoping for AppleTV, but I have a Fire Stick too).  Had hoped that with the lack of racing they'd maybe be able to dedicate more resources to get it rolled out but hasn't happened yet.

I am not desperate but it would be nice if they offered apps for Roku and Apple which is another one that isn't being shown enough love by the PPV providers.

As far as developing the app I like to listen to podcasts on my MP3 player when I tinker around the house and haven't seen amy new episodes of Open Red.  I don't know but I'm just speculating that they might have furloughed some of their staff.  Just speculation on my part but there is a lot to report on with the schedule in flux so the lack of new episodes has me wondering.

Can't remember where I read it but I believe all WRG employees have been retained and have been working.  The DirtVision revenue stream certainly helps in times like these.

As for Open Red, I can't remember what they said at the end of the last episode but I think they planned doing some more remote as well.  Not sure how strained Justin is with these midweek NASCAR races now as I know he crews for Wallace.  I believe Ross is also having a house built so I think it was probably a decently timed break for them both.

I know this is a sprint car board but if you like late models too Lucas Oil TV is offering a great deal right now. Starting tonight there are 6 races over the next week and they are offering a monthly subscription for only $2.99. No that's not a typo. Check out their twitter and website for more info.

Sorry but when I went to their website all I was offered was a $99.99/year subscription to be able to watch live events. Could not find the $2.99/month deal.

My bad. $2.99 subscription was for something else. $99 is for annual subscription. I believe monthly is $6.99. Some events not included in monthly subscription so that explains why annual is more than $84 (7 x 12) but I believe the events in the next week are available with just a monthly pass. Still a bargain. I'm sure their customer support could help out if you have problems. Plus they have an app which for me makes the whole thing so easy and they quality is great.

I wouldn't hold my breath on Roku and Apple apps.  I don't develop apps but I work for an internet company who recently started offering a live streaming TV service.  Currently we have an app available for android, apple (IOS only, not apple TV) and Roku as an private app or however they word it.  Here's what I can tell you about those apps, this is only what I heard, not my experience.  The Android app was easy, develop the app and submit it.  The Apple app which as I said doesn't support Apple TV, took a long time to get approved because it kept getting rejected for stupid reasons.  As I said with Roku it's a private app, which means the only way to add it to your Roku is to log into your Roku account on the website and add it there.  You can't install it directly from the Roku itself.  If you want to have an official Roku app that you can search and add from the Roku itself, then Roku wants a portion of your profits, which I think was in the neighborhood of 6-10 percent, which isn't huge but it adds up.

I'm going to apologize up front because I'm sure I'm going to offend you but as I said in my last post I work with streaming TV so I have worked with lots of Android devices, Apple IOS devices (iPhone and iPad only) and Rokus.  Here's what I've learned, Rokus suck.  My favorite device so far has been the nvidia shield followed by the Firestick.  So my question is, if you have a firestick that does what you want why even mess with the Roku?

I'll never claim to be very tech savy so bear with me but you appear to be so I'll ask you the question. Currently when I watch anything that has a Roku app, that's what I use. I watched Lucas Oil TV last night and my Roku works great. It's actually an older Roku that we got for my son's TV that isn't a smart TV. He doesn't use it much so we just hooked it up to our Samsung TV in the living room. When I watch Dirtvision, I use my Samsung S9 phone. I bought an adapter the goes from the phone into the TV. I can also screen mirror my S9 onto the Samsung. Doesn't really matter. While the picture using my phone in either scenario is acceptable, the picture using the Roku is far better and the whole process is just easier since the Roku is always hooked up.  I don't have to plug and unplug things to the TV. For this reason I was hoping Dirtvision would get a Roku app. Over my current set up, is there and advantage to switching over to the firestick and using it for everything?   Picture quality?

These next few Lucas Oil LM races are also being broadcast FREE on their Facebook Live page.  Tonight/tomorrow at Golden Isles and three nights next week from East Bay.

Free is great especially if you've never watched before and want to check it out before committing to buying. Great that Lucas Oil is trying to reach out and let as many people as possible tune in. When I try and watch anything on Facebook live, my picture quality is just OK. Definitely grainy. Is that just something on my end or is that normal? For Lucas Oil, I bite the bullet and pay for a monthly subscription since it's so cheap and the picture quality is so much better.  I don't mind giving them a few bucks hoping they keep these broadcasts coming and hopefully add more.
