Doubtful for any of those dates. Not saying impossible. From everything that has been said, I think June 1st will be a miracle with just about every single race in 2020 in jeopardy.
If they do start up early, they will simply be shut down again in short order once spread is re-established. This is going to be a long haul everybody. If the CDC approves an effective treatment in short order (4-8 weeks) we could return to "normal" at the start of summer-----maybe. Depends on how quickly they can mass produce and distribute the drugs.
Sorry this isn't a more positive response like you wanted-----let's not get delusional and think that what we're doing is going to stop this virus. We are just "waiting for reinforcments" before we let er rip through the entire population. We are in the 2nd inning of a 9 inning game.

While I agree the virus will be around through 2020 and beyond, I think based on other contries you are going to see new cases slow down or flatfline by the end of April. At which point they will have to start letting business open or the finacial impact and fallout it cause will last far longer than the virus. Hoping I'm right...but as others said "Who knows" is probably the best answer

God I hope you're right DirtKing9. But here's some food for thought:
1. China is going back to "normal"----slowly. If we see cases spike again there, that is what we have to look forward to.
2. Hong Kong thought they had it under wraps and loosened their regulations. Now cases spiking fast.
3. We are never going to get to the level of near zero that China attained. They had a full-blown lockdown. Not the "pretty-please" lockdown going on in the USA. We will not get down to their level of non-infection. Which is actually fine. We need this virus to continue to spread at a low rate so we can get it to run through the population at a controlled rate. We can't pretend it's over after this first halt of the spread.
I have been pretty pessimistic about what was going to happen with this virus since about late-January. (My wife and I were out for drinks with friends and I told them to get ready for some major disruptions to life in the spring--they all laughed at me) Even 2 weeks ago I was more optimistic about summer 2020 than I am now.

Sure hope they get the treatment they need. I'm hearing very good things about the anti-malaria drugs. Hopefully their doctors will be able to deal with it effectively.

I'd like to think I might see the WoO at Devils Bowl in early May, but I ain't holdin' my breath. At this point, I'm just hoping Knoxville happens in August.

I have a Knoxville HOF calendar with all sorts of sprint car races & music festivals written down for this spring/summer.
So far haven't done anything since Feb. 29.... everything cancelled thru April
We'll see......

Really its all an unknown right now. If we flatten out the curve and ease restrictions and it blows up again the whole summer will be lost.
I think Knoxville could pull it off earlier than others due to how large seating capacity is.
Ticket sales online only.
Run only one class each saturday to spread out pit space.
Open both front are rear grandstands to spread people out.
Do a temperature check on all coming in.
All the teams and crews have probably been together thru this deal working in the shop. I doubt they would be concerned working on a car in the pits.
Closed pits after races. Just load up and head home.
Honestly I am just hoping were all sitting in those stands the 2nd week of August and its going to be a long damn summer if it keeps going like this.

Big question....... if they had racing open up tomorrow then who would show up to watch them in a crowd?
the panic from the media thats been instated and the real risk of getting the virus I dont think there would be many people actually go to a race and dont think there will be again until they roll out the vaccine to this deal so its going to be hell till then and im so desperate like everyone else to go to a race but honestly dont have the balls to go sit in a crowd to watch it

I commented about watching an interview that obviously dated back to the 80's or 90's of a gentelman who had survived the Spanish Flu of 1918. Aside from details of that pandemic my big takeway from the interview was that it took four years for the public to regain their confidence enough to gather in large numbers. I expect a slow measured rollout before we're nuts to butts in a grandstand again. The rollout could be taregeted so that some areas will open up sooner than others so larger crowds might be allowed sooner for instance in Iowa than places like California and New York.
I am a flight deck veteran so I belong to Navy flight deck groups. One of the headlines shared on those groups is that the carrier Theodore Roosevelt as well as other Navy ships are experiencing outbreaks. Likewise some of our big military bases and boot camp facilities so this virus is affecting our readiness. Optimism is a great quality but it has to be based on reality and right now the reality is that we have a ways to go before we see the light of day.

On a positive note, air fare is super cheap right now and if things start to improve later this week I might book a trip to see the Little 500 since they are still planning on running it May 23. It's a bucket list item that has been out of reach due to the cost of travelling from Denver during Indy 500 weekend.
