Correct me if I'm wrong

The Merle Thomason or Thomson #80

Thomason died right before the July PA swing but they finished the season.

I think it was Merle Thomason.   His family did allow Jeff to finish the season with an agreement that Jeff would help them sell the equipment.    I could be fuzzy or even mistaken on some of that, but that's what I remember anyway.

Remember the team at Knoxville.  To me Jeff was trying extra hard to win it because of the health of the owner.  It seemed problems just kept happening.  Such as effort by Jeff.

I knew the guy that married, Merle {Crockett) widow. Yes, Jeff finish the season, and was to buy or sale the equipment. He end up buying some, and that was how, the 1st car started.
Crockett, did not have no lingering health problems. He died, on top of the trailer. He died of an aneurism while watching the Outlaws race at Rapid City, S.D..

Sue, his widow, the last I heard was in Ohio.  I heard they were gathering info on Crockett, who was a great driver in his day. Trying to get everything, to HoF, to see how he stacked up. Her new husband, owned a large Carnival Company, and sold it a few years back. Her new husband and  Jack Hewitt, were good friends.  Jack, talks about him in his book.
