What a disaster that was last night. Boring isn't the word. Trucks and anything else NASCAR don't belong on dirt. No wonder it's a dying series.

Never watched it this year. It would make more sence at a mile track like Springfield, Ill.. Nascar used to race some on dirt. To me Eldora is to small in my opinion, but if Tony can get fans there I guess it will happen each year.

That was unwatchable last night. I turned back over to the race a couple times giving it a 3rd and 4th chance. Couldnt do it, honestly Hobbie Stocks more entertianing than that mess last night.

I missed it completely and of course didn't make it a priority to remember when it was coming on. I would think this race will eventually go away.

I have watched it pretty much every year, on DVR of course. Not exactly my favorite form of dirt racing, but I can wait a week for that.
The major problem is because NASCAR insists on windshields, then that requires a very very dry slick track. Any bit of moisture and the glass windshields become like a mask and the cooling vents plug up.
Also the bigger names that draw the fans Larson, CBell, Bubba have won so they have bailed leaving just the usual drivers to compete. I know Mike Marlar a big name in Late Models ran last night and that drew a good portion of that crowd. But they also complained it was a circus show, all hype and not much real racing.

I’m not surprised a sprint car forum has mainly negative options on the race. I really enjoyed it as I do every year. It’s one of 3 nascar races I make a point to watch along with Daytona and Bristol night.

Why would he do that if he loved dirt sooo much? For money that he didn't need? I will never understand and I get it I don't matter cause it's not my race track but damn he fucked that place up and its painfullllll to watch sprints running the inside wall there now cause that's the fastest way around that shithole now. Stewar don't deserve Eldora Jack Hewitt should be the owner because like Terry Baltes said for years "Hewitt was Eldora's favorite son" not brokedick tony fucking fat cock mouth stewart. Obviously the race would be much better if the drivers were in sprints or late models. Those trucks are probably less exciting than a hobby stock on dirt. I'm all for introducing napcar fans to dirt racing but I don't think they're cars or trucks are suited for it. Why the hell would you race a truck on any surface to begin with? Keep the trucks at monster jam.

That would all make sense except for one problem................................the sprint car racing the last few times at Eldora has been the best it's ever been--especially this year's King's Royal week. Sure, it's not the same. But, who wants to continue to watch a wall-scraping, 140 mph conveyor belt with no passing lanes? Tony took a lot of shit for his reconfiguration of the track, and guess what? He knew what the hell he was doing. The racing there in this years King's Royal was the best I've ever seen there. Dirtlover, are you one of those "get off my lawn" old men who doesn't like change? By the way, your last couple of sentences are pretty classy.
As for the truck race last night, there were an extreme amount of spin-out yellows. The racing itself was not terrible but never got a chance to get going. It wasn't a good race but the quality of the truck races at Eldora have been pretty good since its inception. So, I'll tune in next year and hope for another good one.
A night at the races is not always going to be a 10. You're gonna have to endure some boring ones sometimes.

Agreed. I'll take a multi-groove track with passing at slower speeds over a high speed slot car parade around the top. Eldora has been producing some good sprint car and late model racing in recent years. It's still pretty damn fast.

Agreed on the Sprint car side. The past few years have had some great racing. As you said, their were quite a few races that were conveyer belts right up on the top. While it is neat to see guys single file around the top, I'll take the way it is now. Especially if they can continue to produce the racing they had at the Kings Royal.
Haven't watched any Nascar the past 2yrs since cutting the cord so no opinion on the truck race. I do think it is good exposure for dirt racing in general.

Why the negativity towards this race? I didn't watch it real close, I was working around the house but from what I saw there was a lot of side by side racing but I did hear it was really hard to pass, so I can't really comment on the quality of racing. What I was thinking about last night though is, how to the ratings compare for this race compared to other truck races? I'm not sure about the rest of you guys but I never watch a truck race, however for this one I did make it a point to turn it on (although I didn't make it a point to sit down and actually watch it). As far as I'm concerned, it's something different, I'd much rather watch this race than watch them at Daytona.
