The car that Parkinson Sr. is in has the same paint job as when my brother brought it back from buying the car in Wichita Falls Texas in 1968 or 69.It was a Don Edmunds and also had a bolt on cage.I believe that must have been an IMCA race where they ran without cages. This is what it looked like when he won the Horizon City Speedway (El Paso) championship that year. This was the car he pulled back to Pennsylvania to live and race . I came back at the end of that season when Horizon Speedway closed down. The supermodified in background was my first race car. Van May

Thanks for the info Van! I read a story in Open Wheel magazine about you and your brother, and how you began your careers in El Paso, then migrated to Pa., but it didn't go into detail about your early cars. I always love reading the history behind these beautiful race cars.

Side note on 1978 117 speedway Outlaw show .Standing outside of Pit Gate was my friend Stan Fox.He was recovering from a crash in the 47 Edmunds house car.Wish i had took his picture.Rip Stan
