When you get old you have these unprovoked flashbacks - even though you can't remember your name sometimes
today's : Jimmy Sills driving the Cahill Brothers-McCarl #7 (maybe #7 - or maybe even 7X - or maybe completely wrong) at the Grove July Outlaw swing - circa 1984-ish.
I didn't Google it cuz this is more fun. Maybe I don't even have it right? I'm think that Cahill Brothers-McCarl were prominent Knoxville car owners??? Who were they? McCarl any relation to Terry McCarl?

Leonard McCarl 7x. Leonard was father to Terry & Kenny, grandfather to Austin & Carson McCarl.

For historical sake on the McCarl 7x, the spelling is actually "Lenard" McCarl. I know, common and unintentional mistake, but from the work I've done in journalism, names and proper spellings have always been important to me both out of respect for the individual and for the preservation of history.
Moving on, I love the topic of this thread. I'm anxious to hear the connections between the McCarl 7x and the Cahill 7. I distinctly remember them as 2 seperate teams.

Agreed I am curious about the connection here also.
I remember the Cahill #7 a beautiful black car driven by Randy Smith at Huset's around 1989??
I remember Lenard McCarl's #7x driven for a while by Rocky Hodges sometime late 80's/ early 90's?
I didn't go to many sprint car races in 1984 so if they teamed up for a while I'm curious about it.
