Specifically Williams Grove. If you're not sitting at least in the lowest reserved row, you're not seeing half the track. Plenty of land to extend the backstretch pit area. But that will never happen with the current owner. Every dime she gets stays in her deepest pocket. Needs to take some ideas from that other track up in Nittany land.

So I ask then without sacrificing parking or anything how are they going to expand the back pits. I can say for certain that there would need to be a ton of money put in just in fill material and drain tile just to hold 50+ haulers if they are all parked back there on a wet weekend like we've had. Hell, see the mess with all the RVs back in that part of the track? I would love to see the haulers moved but I'm also understand why they haven't done it also.
My fix for that problem has always been buying reserved tickets. They are $5 more a person. Unless you're bringing a bunch of kids with you just pony up and pay the extra cash.

Maybe it's time for a new racier Williams Grove. Replace the joint with a 4/10 mile wider layout and move the haulers outside of the track. Looks like plenty of space could be available for the pits by bringing turns three and four in. It appears that the front stretch grandstands would match up quite well with the new turn four, also. That would also mean actually having a turn two. I know this will be a very unpopular suggestion, but the fans and the car owners would sure reap a great benifit.

I always wondered how anybody could see from Beer Hill....
Yea, move the haulers.... I don't know where, but it would be an improvement for sure

I had the highest row of non season ticket holders, & could see pretty well except for 2 spots. For the A main, moved up into season ticket area. I was surprised how many empty seat there were up there.... nobody complained either

Do you guys realize that what makes Williams Grove great is its unique layout and also the atmosphere of a full infield. (Haulers and fans) imagine williams grove with nothing in the infield but fans scattered everywhere. It adds to the charm of the place. That's why it's full for big shows. There's a lot of different aspects that make a track legendary. Which is what WG is. It is the king of PA. Always will be. Whether anyone likes it or not. If u can't see then get off your ass and walk around. Half of the clowns complaining about sight lines don't even pay attention all of the time anyway. So sit back , relax, drink your Busch beer and be happy we have a place like this in our back yard.

I was going to suggest the same thing, but figured I'd get run out of town by folks with torches and pitchforks.
I thought maybe a 3/8 mile track, as that seems to match the tightness of the corners...

Elevate the grandstands or install new grandstands that are elevatedl. Problem solved.

I suggest you buy the track and invest your own coin.

Yes, a great but expensive idea, make it a 4/10 track or even better a 3/8th, more car contact which is a bad thing and money to pay for it a bad thing, but Jackson in SD did it and much better racing, but they widened it also. Also would make seating on both ends less desirable and the far end suites would suffer a bit also making those paying the big bucks to watch from a suite not so happy. But a Knoxville Nationals on a smaller track, would be great racing and not to say there isn't already great racing at least in the feature. Aw, just a wild thought that won't happen and probably shouldn't.

I pay money to watch a race at a race track. Hard to find excuses for obstructed views at 1/2 mile track.

Turn it into a racier 4/10 or 3/8 - bullsh!t
Won't argue that it might be "racier" but it wouldn't be THE Williams Grove Speedway. It's been that way for 80 years. Leave it alone.
And, yep, the haulers block the view that you paid for but real racetracks have the pits in the infield, a tunnel for the front stretch, and one has a bridge for the backstretch!
Cut my sprint car teeth at the place. If they changed it - or worse, it would be like sticking a knife in my heart.
And, while you're at it, put the pits and the pagoda back in the infield at Port - and leave Selinsgrove alone too.
Never saw a bad race at Lincoln but if I had to choose, I'd take the big track over the "racier" one.

The people compaining that the track should be shorteneed seem to be posters that don't even go there and are 1,000 miles away.

If we can't even get paging horns re aimed so you can here Bruce in the backstretch grandstand, how will anything else get improved?
All other area tracks responded to fan request to improve sight lines and rigs are no longer in the infields...most other area tracks have seats with backs on them...most other area tracks have better food...
All the area needs is a second 410 choice on Friday.
Let the old timers dance with tradition while the crowds dwindle away to nothing for regular shows and the place goes special events only in the coming years.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Grove needs to step up and get the haulers out of the infield. They also have a ton of rotted guard rail post that need replaced. A catch fence should also be installed on turns one and two. That's one hell of a drop off, and we already have a permanatly injured driver. All tracks need to evaluate their exits and entry points and make improvements. I like what they did with the water barrels.

Never been there, and yes, I'm over 1,000 miles away. All I can go by is what I read here and other places. A big, fast, dangerous track that eats motors and eats cars. OK. Nothing else has changed in 80 years either. You're right. As long as you keep getting big crowds and big car counts at Nazareth then there's obviously no reason for Nazareth to change anything. But if the crowds and the car counts start to thin at Nazareth, then maybe Nazareth will need to change with the times.

"A big, fast dangerous track that rats cars and motors"
The exact same thing can be said about Knoxville, and the weekly car count there is nowhere close to what it used to be. Where is your post that Knoxville nreds to be shortened? It seems really arrogant that people who have never even been to a track want to change someone elae's track.

People used to have to shit outdoors, too. I'm glad they didn't leave that alone. The point being, when things exist for a very long time without change, they sometimes cease to exist.

Changing the track while the same management is in place does nothing

Fair enough. I apologize if you felt I was being arrogant.
Knoxville has changed to meet the times. Can you name any other sprint car track that jas a 4 day event that pays $150,000 to win that attracts cars from all over the country and from 2 or 3 other countries?
