Hotel prices are insane for World Finals this year. Anyone know what else might be going on in the area? Or is there just a bunch of excited dirt racing fans? Last year I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at the Wingate and after taxes and fees my total was $502. I just went to book the same amount of rooms for the same dates (Friday and Saturday night) at the same hotel through the same booking website and my total was $1,089. I thought to myself, "I must've booked early last year." So I dug up the confirmation email from last year... nope I booked last year on 9/19/17.

If you’re willing to drive like 15-20 minutes there are a ton of hotels that are much cheaper in charlotte and near the airport. Traffic is lousy on Friday afternoon but the other times it’s an easy drive.

I usually stay 20 minutes from the track. I’ve stayed at a different place every year as the prices keep driving up. This year we’re spoiling ourselves and staying at a nice hotel but still 15 minutes away.

We paid $420 for one room, three nights at the Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte University Research Park.

AirB&B. We snagged a three bedroom house that is 10 minutes from the track. About $450 for the weekend.

I'm aware there are cheaper options... I was just shocked by the price increase from last year. Was curious if there was something else going on that weekend. Even the rates at the hotels near the university are more this year than what I paid for the Wingate right of Bruton Smith Blvd last year. Ended up booking at the Drury Inn by the Northlake mall, 2 rooms 2 nights for $438.
