Here are a couple video clips taken from the stands during heat race action this past Saturday in the Sprint Car Bandits series at Superbowl Speedway.

There was great racing action all night long, assisted by good track conditions and the Sprint Car Bandits rules package, which features a fixed 20° top wing angle and rear tire rules that restrict stagger and usage (which reduces nightly costs to the racer).

SCB series regulars all share the same general comments after racing under our rules package the past two seasons.

Here’s a quote from SCB regular and sprint car veteran driver Claud Estes III: “The car is more freed up so it promotes a lot more passing. That also takes some of the downforce off the car which reduces tire wear…and that leads to less nightly expense on consumables. And all while running on the same tires as everyone else. The competitor purses are also excellent…$2,000 to win, $300 to start, no license and we don’t have to buy anything to ‘convert’ our 360C.I. or RaceSaver cars to be compliant.”

Estes concludes his comments by stating: “We’ve had two or three cars at all three Sprint Car Bandits events in 2018 and we’re still running the same two rear tires on all of them.”

SCB heat races include passing points, but we do not redraw for the A-feature, and all cars are lined straight up – which encourages drivers to race to the top spot that they can get in the heats, to maximize their feature starting position…as they get rewarded for their efforts.

And the effects of that rule clearly show in these two video clips, as the 2nd place drivers could have sat back and finished 2nd, knowing they’d have enough points to make a redraw. But they didn’t quit racing and gave the fans the show they paid to see.

If you’ve yet to check out the Sprint Car Bandits series, there are 3 events already in the books for 2018 and 22 remaining. We round out the month of April with SCB events at the following venues – if you happen to be in the area, please come and check it all out. We’ve had consistently solid races, with happy race teams and fans the past two seasons – and 2018 is off to another great start!

April 14 – Texarkana 67 Speedway, Texarkana AR
April 21 – LoneStar Speedway, Kilgore TX
April 28 – Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Ardmore OK

Special thanks to cwb15.com for grabbing these video clips, as I was announcing the race.
