What tracks and/or series, outside Indianna, have Non-wing sprints, weekly?  It doesn't matter which engine they run, just curious.(not 600's or any kind of mini, actual sprint cars)  Mainly interested in who has a weekly show outside Indianna, if any.

I know of:

Tracks:(Weekly)

New Egypt speedway in New Jersey has GM602 non-wing Sprints

Accord Speedway in New York has GM602 non-wing Sprints

Petaluma Speedway in California has Non-wing Spec Sprints

Wilmot Raceway in Wisconsin has GM604 Non-wing Sprints

Jackson Motorplex is running the 360 NSL Non-Wing sprint in Jackson Mn in 2018

Waynesfield Motorsports Park in Ohio. 410 non wings every Saturday.

???

Series:(Travel)

BOSS in OH & PA

Spec Sprints in California

Elite in Texas

WAR in MO & IL

RUSH in PA

UMSS/Northern Rebegades in WI & MN

NMMRA in New Mexico & Arizona

MTS - Michigan Traditional Sprints is a nonwinged touring group in Michigan

And that has made all the difference.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to get NON-wing started in the Georgia?  Right now we have ZERO sprints weekly anywhere in the state.  No offense, but I have no interest in starting anything with a wing.  I'm not looking to be a promoter mind you, but I don't mind being an apostle.  I was involved in DLM for 30 years, but to me that class in all its current iterations is to all consuming for the average working man in terms of cost, tools/equipment needed and time required to maintain.  A NON-wing sprint seems a much better fit, maybe not a full tilt 410, but some sort of reasonable power plant that isn't boring.  I like the package UMSS/NORTHERN RENEGADES offers over all the other endeavors I've seen, I just need some ideas on where to start to get others interested down here.

It is Wilmot Raceway, not Speedway.  That may help in doing searches.  You may want to somehow contact Steve Sinclair, or maybe even Joe Roe for more info on how the Wisconsin wingLESS got started.  They run under the IRA badge.

I'd look into the BOSS series and how the operate.  Very limited rules so almost anyone can race.  If you want to start in a region that doesn't have sprints, don't make it hard for people to run with you.

Sent you an email with contact info for Ron Bernhagen. He and a couple other guys started the UMSS trational series. He would have all the info you need and said he is more than happy to help.  We started out the first year with 4 of us that built cars. We raced at various tracks as an exhibition. The 4 of us would go out and run a few laps and Johnny Parsons would kick our butts every time. Ron would be able to tell you how to approach tracks that had never seen a sprint car before.

4 cylinder racing rules the south. A track puts them on the schedule for a special show and they come out of the woodwork.

Must be a different southern state.  In GA its dirt late model in 3, 4 or 5 different iterations, 4 banger almost dead except FWD.

I started a Modified Series here in the PA area back in 2014, I had the benefit of one area track running them wiht 6-8 cars weekly so it was probably an easier task than what you are after. I guess if I were looking to start something from nothing it would take a bit more of an investment. You would probably need to go out and buy some rollers to sell in your area. Maybe 8-10 rollers to get the class started. Otherwise it will difficult to ever book a date at any track without being able to tell them we have at least 6-8 cars in the area. The first seasons until the class gets built up the purse will have to be almost nothing. In fact I would be thrilled in your case if you could get tracks to agree to just pay each car $100 or something to show up as far as purse goes. Look around the areas nearby - you would have 305s in the Carolinas, USCS, Top Gun Sprints, etc. that you could potentially draw cars from if your rules allow them all then all they have to do is take the wings off. If you talk to those guys (I always friended all the area drivers on facebook, and when we had a race close to them I would message them to remind them about 2-3 weeks in advance, and I would keep talking to them if possible). The first season for our mod series I didn't know if we were going to make it, we had 9 cars for our first race, and 13 for the next. But over time we got to the point where 18-19 cars was a small field and were getting more than a full field on several occassions each season. The key is to make sure you and your group of friends are not the only ones seriously interested in this class, if that is the case then all that will happen is you will spend a lot of money on cars that will have a very low resale value after the division never takes off in your area. I would probably start out way in advance of doing anything with having a rules meeting of some kind and get the word out to as many drivers as you can.

No real experience here, but just some observations. I know in California, carts/ micros seem to be a good development area for new drivers (Larson and Abreu). I work with a guy from Ga. that said he used to race carts or micro sprints back in Ga. Maybe search out those guys and gauge interest in getting them to move up in class. Good luck, I hope it takes off for you and spreads across the South! Here in Southeast Va. I only get 305's (and greatly appreciate the effort that the put out!) once in awhile locally.
