I was just wondering what everyone thought of the new World of Outlaws 1 lap qualifying rule when there are more than 40 cars? I personally didn't care for it in Tulare and thought it made qualifying a bit boring. It's funny how much difference something so simple can make. I think if they're only going to do one lap qualifying they should alter the format to how ASCS runs it with heats and qualifying races. At least then there will be a little more excitment involved.

Good luck to all the Nor Cal teams heading to Manzi and Perris this weekend.

what about multi-car qualifying..probably work on the bigger tracks, get qualifying done quicker and take less out of the track.. i don't think one and done is a fair way to go

Personally I think that it is terrible. I understand that they are preparing for qualifying for the Nascar sanctioned tracks, but if your going to do the one lap rule at least hot lap the track in so it is ready for qualifying.

I didn't like it. One bobble can screw up the whole night for a driver. There is no chance to recover. I would think that the 3 cars for 3 laps would be a better and fairer way to go.

Are we having fun yet?

The supposed purpose was to speed up the program; it succeeded because we were out of there by 9:15 unfortunately the racing was awful.

The shouldn't be called the outlaws but the robbers because they seemed to only care about getting out of town as quickly as possible with all our money.

The track was not ready for qualifing, the track was very rough and one slip and it was over, the amount of time saved was about 15 sec a car times 42 cars = 10.5 min; the result we would have gotten out at 9:26.

They seemed to care less that there was little or no opportunity for passing; just get the show over.

I did appreciate the skill required to pass and the patience needed.

has everyone forgotten the disaster at lowes last year when they tried multi-car qualifying?

I am just wondering why they just started using that one lap rule here in Calif., they have had more than 40 cars at most PA events and didn't us this rule. They said it was to save time, the races were over by like 9:10.

Posse Fan: Because the outlaws need the extra lap to make the show against the best of the best of the best hoo rah!!!

Everyone Else: They are trying to divert attention away from the t-shirt ruling!!

I do think it was more than a little strange that they just started with Tulare. Like you said there has been plenty of times when there where more than 40 cars.

Forget what the World of Outlaws may be saying about "saving the track" or "speeding up the show." It is political. Generally as a rule, WoO drivers adapt quicker to changing or obscure (i.e. ruts, slick) conditions because they see so many different tracks. It helps them, even if it is just a little bit, shuffle to the top of the pack.

I for one have always liked the drama of qualifying. If the driver makes a mistake on lap one, it is exciting to see if they can turn it around.

And, on the other side of the coin, I think it was Haudenschild a few years ago at Tulare when he broke the track record twice in consecutive qualifying laps. The crowd was jumping out of their seats. How cool is that?

There are plenty of ways to speed up the program. This is not it.
