ROA COMES BACK FROM A SPIN TO FINISH EIGHTH AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
(Buena Park, CA, September 27, 2017) Brody Roa came back from a spin on the fourth lap of Saturday’s “Glenn Howard Classic” at Perris Auto Speedway to finish eighth in the 30-lap main. The 17th top 10 finish in 18 races in the 2017 USAC/CRA season kept the likeable driver in second place in the championship standings.
Things started off great when Roa out qualified the 25-car field with a lap of 16.756 around the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. The effort was good for the $100.00 Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award.
Roa, who calls Garden Grove, California home, started sixth in his 10-lap heat race. The lanky driver quickly settled into third and stayed there for the duration and earned an automatic transfer into the 30-lap main event.
Starting sixth again in the 30-lapper, Roa found himself sliding forward and backward from fourth to sixth over the first three laps. Coming off turn two on the fourth lap, the 26-year-old went to the top of the track, got a big drive and moved from sixth to fourth in one swoop. However, when he got to turn three, the green #91R bicycled. The car was quickly back on all four tires, but it slid to a stop in turn four bringing out the yellow flag.
For the restart, Roa had to start dead last as he was the cause of the yellow flag. Slowly, but surely, he worked his way through the pack. By the halfway point he was just outside the top ten and he found himself in ninth on lap 20. Ten laps later, he took the checkered flag after working hard and passing 15-cars from the back for the eighth-place finish.
Roa and the crew have some time off before returning to action at Perris Auto Speedway on October 21st. After that, there will only be five races remaining in the 2017 USAC/CRA season before the crew embarks on a winter’s worth of prep for the 2018 season opener.
