After 9/11 the US got tough on Border Crossings (a little too late?) and if you had taken a buble gum from the corner store at 6 yrs. of age they would not let you across the border.  About a decade later and after a million complaints the Canadian Border started doing similar things and being very difficult in the process, monkey see, monkey do.  With computers they know as much about your history when you cross the border (either side) you can't have any blip on your record, it's overkill at it's best.

Rico lost his Crew Chief, I think that was the main reason he didn't go.  They do make it difficult coming into Canada with your T-Shirt trailer, they want to know an exact inverntory on EVERYTHING and that takes more time than it may be worth and many stopped for that reason.  Canadians have tons of shirts but 99% of them were bought in the USA....

It's usually more than about tee shirts.  To visit Canada from the U. S., one has to have proof of U.S. citizenship with them , such as a birth certificate, etc. Having just a drivers license is not adaquate. That's been a known requirement for years. Nothing sinister or unusual about it.

You need a PASSPORT to cross either border, nothing short of that will work....if you are a trucker you could use a FAST Approved card, that's a long story....

Back in the pot-filled days of the 60s and 70s, on the way up they went thru your carpeting with their fingers looking for "seeds".  On the way back to US, they just waved you thru.  We weren't fans of LaBatts beer back then and one time we hid three cases of Budweiser in a sort of secret compartment in this van.  They found it, had to sign a paper "not reported, not returned".

MSPN is 100% correct. It's just as difficult to cross into the US from Canada. Both countries rules and regs are the same and info is exchanged between both countries. So don't blame Canada for Jac not getting in. If Jac was Canadian and was trying to get into the US he'd have been denied just the same. I've see some people on other forums make stupid and ignorant comments regarding Jac not getting to cross.

I live near Toronto. One time I was racing in syracuse in july which is only 3 hours from home. It was 100 degrees out. The guy pitted beside us asked me how much snow we have at home right now. And he was serious.

Ive tried to start a new thread about Canadian Sprint car teams but I've failed for some reason. So may I take the Canadian theme thread a step further? Have there ever been any Canadians either race the full WoO schedule or race regularily and be competetive?  That 19 yr old at Ohsweken has some bragging rights right now. I see Skylar Gee is at Knoxville 360s. He is from Edmonton and followed the 410s the last couple years into washington state after they raced in Edmonton.

Im pretty sure that Tim Gee, Skylars dad is still the only Canadian WoO winner and that was one race in the 80s. I don't think that there has ever been a Canadian team that has run a full season. Jimmy Carr who has worked for Tony Stewart for I guess probably 20 years as a crew chief and team manager is also Canadian. He has won a ton of WoO races as a crew chief and I believe that he used to race himself but I don't think that he's ever won a woo race as a driver.

Daryl Turford, the current Hills Racing crew chief has a WoO win as a crew chief with Sam Hafertepe Jr.

Hills Racing is owned by businessman Miles Hill and is based in Ohsweken Ontario. The Hills team has and continues to help tons and tons of people. Theyve had top 5 WoO finishes at Ohsweken in the last couple years with PPM and a second place with Shane Stewart at the Ohsweken race in 2014. Miles daughter Alex Hill was running the full ASCS National tour this year until she got hurt at Knoxville a couple months ago. I think that she eventually wants to run the woo tour.

Toni Lutar ran the full tour in 2010.  There is no doubt in my mind Travis Rutz would have ended up with a full time ride with someone had he not been severly hurt at Terre Haute.

Also Tim Gee isn't the only Canuck to win a WoO race.  Stewart Friesen won a year or 2 ago at Ohsweken.

Not on topic but I saw Thomas Kennedy entered the Speed Sport Challenge at Nats.  Skyler Gee did too.  Pretty cool to see some Canadians in there as it's typically USA v Aus.
