Question:

I have been a loyal back-stretcher for the last 15 years at the Nationals.  However, I have never been to a WOO event at Knoxville.  (Other than the Nationals of course)

We are planning on attending this weekend for the WOO show.  What does everyone prefer?  General admission?  Reserved?  If I buy general admission, will I be sitting down in row 6 eating dirt?  If I buy reserved seats will I have to kick a bunch of morons out of my seats?  (Like I have had to do at Beaver Dam and Rockford)

Any info/help appreciated

Yes, speaking from experience. General admission goes to row 22 on the front stretch. We had section H  row 22 for over 30 years at Nationals. Section D before that. Section H is just left of the flagstand and right above concessions. Purchase the lower numbered seats.....#1 or lowest # avail >>>>>> Even with haulers in the infield there are no obstructions at that level. Enjoy!!!!

There will be plenty of GA seating.. no need to worry about buying reserved or getting stuck sitting down low. Safe travels & have fun!

Just go ahead and sit low and eat dirt!   Iowa dirt tastes better than most...

I personally would buy GA unless you think you have to sit at the start/finish line.  Only sections C,D,E,F & G have reserved seats for the WoO Show (row 20-40).

Rows 1-19 in those sections and all rows in all other sections of the front stretch are GA.

In your opinion, how high up do you have to be in reserved seating for the Nationals to see all around the track?

We sit on row 11 right across from the push off area and can see pretty much everything. Anything there or above is a good seat. When you sit all the way up top you're so far away it almost seems like you're watching on TV or something. The lower you are the better sense of speed you get. Plus it's not so much work going down for concessions.  Smile

+1 on all points. I think row 15-18 is the sweet spot... JMO

I know the front stretch stand and backstretch stands are a different layout.  I agree with you though---we usually sit rows 10-12 on the backstretch.  Not too far from the track to make it like a television show and close enough to see (and feel) the speed.

All of the points being made, I think I am going to just do General Admission and find a seat somewhere in rows 10-15.

thanks

Section H or I row 20 is primo in my book. You shouldn't eat much dirt this time of year. Not nearly as dry as during the Nationals. Sometimes at a weekly show I'll sit down low to just have plenty of room and stretch out.

I sat in section H row 32 for the Nationals last year and I loved the seats. The only issue was, as someone stated before, you are up pretty far and it does take a bit of the sensation of speed away. It did make for a pretty easy egress out the back of the stands and over to Dingus though.

We are sitting in section G row 10 tomorrow night(Saturday ), going to a concert tonight... remember if you don't like the seats, move!! If you pay for reserved and don't like them move to a general admission seat... should be plenty of seats available.

Metallica @ Iowa Speedway?

Lots going on this weekend in Central IA between the Principal Charity Classic (PGA Golf - Champions Tour) in DesMoines,  Metallica @ Iowa Speedway benefitting the Native Fund in Newton,  WoO at Knoxville and all the normal stuff.

Hopefully everyone has successful events!  Great time to live in central Iowa with more entertainment options than ever before.

Just saw Metallica last month in Philly.  Great show.  Can't believe what those guys can still do in that genre, at their age.

I wonder how many calories Lars burns a night, mashing the drums like he does.
