C&H Veteran Ent. presents Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour heads for the cool confines of Petaluma Speedway this Saturday

By Gary Thomas

Petaluma, CA – June 5, 2017…The C&H Veteran Ent. presents Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour season marches on with the second visit of the season to the always entertaining Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds located Petaluma Speedway this Saturday June 10.

This weekend we officially reach the halfway point in the season for the C&H Veteran Ent. presents Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour, with Saturday’s outing marking the second of three visits to the Petaluma Speedway in 2017.

The sticky 3/8 mile clay oval acts as a type of home track for the series, as C&H Hunt Tour Operations Manager Rick Faeth is also the promoter of the venue. Following Saturday the tour will return to Petaluma one final time this year on August 12 for the annual Soares Classic.

“We’re excited to have the C&H Veteran Ent. presents Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour in Petaluma this weekend,” Faeth commented. “The level of competition that we’ve seen the first half of the season has definitely been as high as ever and we look for a great event on Saturday.”

Tracy’s Austin Liggett is fresh off his second victory of the season last time out and leads the standings into Petaluma Speedway on Saturday. The pilot of the Brian Sperry owned C&H Veteran Enterprises No. 51 has shown immense speed the first part of the season and continues his assault on the championship this weekend.

“It’s been a great start to the season for this whole Brian Sperry Racing team and hopefully we can continue that in Petaluma,” Liggett commented. “It’s been a great battle with Klint Simpson these first five races and I know that he’s always tough at Petaluma Speedway. Hopefully all the fans can make it out to support the show.”

The aforementioned Klint Simpson goes into Saturday ranking second in the standings while driving Dave Johnson’s No. 32 machine. The Santa Rosa racer had a tremendous battle with Liggett for the lead at the most recent event in Stockton, until being knocked out of contention by a stalled car. Simpson will look for redemption at Petaluma Speedway, where he captured the first of his two wins thus far in 2017.

Palo Cedro’s Casey McClain, Santa Rosa’s Terry Schank and Sacramento’s Zachary Kavert round out the top five in the C&H Veteran Ent. presents Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour standings going into Saturday. Schank is fresh off a victory last week at the Petaluma Speedway and continues to close in on his first tour win of the season. Kavert is coming off his best outing of the year in Stockton, where he set fast time and finished fourth in the feature.

Additional drivers expected on Saturday will include Troy Degaton, Angelique Bell, Brent Steck, Thomas Leiby, Dan Hayes, Chris Kerr, Shayna Sylvia, Ryan Siverling, Sparky Howard, Tim Sherman Jr., Ryan Souza, Nick Larson, Adam Christian Williams Fatu and more.

The front gate this Saturday June 10 at Petaluma Speedway will open at 4pm, with hot laps at 5pm and racing scheduled to get underway at 6pm. Adult tickets cost $16, while seniors and kids 6 to 11 will be $12, children five and under are free. The pit gate for competitors opens at noon. A full program of West Coast Race Parts qualifying, heat races, the Santamauro Racing Products dash and Pit Stop USA A-main will all be on tap Saturday.

The Petaluma Speedway is located in the southern part of the wine country at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds just off Highway 101 in Petaluma, California. Fans are recommended to bring a jacket and warm clothes if you have never been to the Petaluma Speedway, as temperatures usually do chill off once the sun goes down.
