I'm headed to Williams Grove for the first time on 6/9. Any suggestions on parking, where to sit, etc. I know I want to walk across the bridge and will probably get a pit pass.

You traveling in an RV or regular vehicle? Parking is kind of a "follow the leader" type. Just do a quick 360 before you put the shifter in park to make sure you will have suitable egress should the need arise that you have to leave early in an emergency (speaking from personal experience on this). Seating (grandstand wise) is wherever you like to catch the action. Some prefer a particular corner, while others prefer the straightaways for a good all around view. If you plan on pit seating/spectating, as with any large track (1/2 mile+), you will lose a lot of all around view as compared to being up in the grandstand however there is nothing like being up close ground level when a 410 goes through turns 1 & 2! The sight, the smell; it's almost sex-like. Lol
Attempting to be a voice of reason in a world full of
irrationality.

Me and Larryitis went to the Grove for the first time at the end of April. A couple things we were not aware of that may help you out. First off, you dont need a pit pass to go over the bridge. Paying the extra money will really just get you on to the front stretch infield and the pits in turn two. The other thing is, it is BYOB. Bring in a reasonable sized cooler and enjoy the races. I would imagine sitting as high as possible on the front stretch grandstands gets you the best view. We watched from the highest point we could get in the turn 3 grandstands. But we stood in turn 3 on "Beer Hill" for the feature. It was AWESOME watching everyone cheer for their driver. You could definetely tell who was cheering for who LOL. Enjoy your trip! The Beer Hill Gang TV guys were very helpful and extremely nice guys! If you see them, go say Hi! A couple of viewing points I really enjoyed from the infield were turn 2 looking down the back stretch. Its incredible. It looked like every single car was going to miss the corner. The other was entering turn 3. The speeds down the backstretch are absolutely neck breaking. Enjoy your first time! I know I will for sure be back myself!

It's been about 50 years since I've been at the Grove, but if you're sitting in the stands - if it's cold, sit over the pizza oven. If it's hot - find another pace to sit.
Enjoy the racing. It is generally really phenomenal.

if you go to church and prefer your racing experience to be like a night at church...sit on the front stretch
if you go to bars and prefer your racing experience to be like a night at a bar...sit on the back stretch
if you never really need to know what is going on and prefer your racing experience to be limited...bring a chair and sit in the infield
we like the backstretch...

BRR..............Usually, you are stone cold on your analysis of the GREED. However, while some parts of the infield may not know what is going on and have limited racing experience........I can assure you this "nigger", with approximately fifty years (less one year for military service) of sitting in the first turn at the GREED, does have a working knowledge of sprint car racing! Granted, while vision of the entire track is limited from the first turn (the understatement of the year), the close proximity to the sights, sounds and action in the first turn, make it a must stop for visiting race fans. And yes, I'll be there this evening, to enjoy the anticipated "short" 410 field, light crowd and to enjoy my cigar, without bothering anyone. No anticipated consi's and a URC open-wheel back-up division will help the evenings activities go bye. Brother, enjoy the "Hill" and let's hope for a good track tonight (Hey,I'm allowed to dream). And please Santa, perhaps a pass for the lead in the 410 and URC features! Take care. E-Mods.

IMO, don,t expect to see a great race cause the track is not configured for good racing. Mostly strung out follow the leader like the old Sharon speedway was.

Williamsgrove is awesome??? You must have never been to any other track. LMAO. The car that jumps the start usually wins. I could not believe some of the bad starts they let go.

Here is my suggestion for your trip to Williams Grove... As a regular at Port Royal and a semi-regular at Williams Grove it would be my suggestion for you to skip Williams Grove and go to Port Royal instead. At Port Royal you will find more comfortable seating with more room, better food, generally much better track preparation, as good or better 410 spint car count, great super late model racing every week, and much better management. Don't believe me? Then go to the Grove on Friday night followed by Port Royal on Saturday.

Correction - Port will not have the super late models on 6/10.

I agree....despite all the recent bashing on this board about Williams Grove it is still one of my favorite tracks to attend (I have seen over 50 dirt tracks in my lifetime). You can not beat the history, character and most nights the atmosphere. The layout is unique, the lighting and seating are above average, the ability to watch at least warm ups in the infield, is all worth it. It is not like the track is run down as others on here would let you to believe......and you might actually see a decent race, which despite the naysayers on here, does happen on occasion.

Stand as close to the track as you can in the infield for hot laps or better yet the heat races. Watch from 2 places, 1 coming off turn 4 and the other going into turn 2. You will not be disappointed. You can get back over the bridge for the feature and find a good seat of your choice.

point well taken...last week I would have ventured a guess the infield fence in turns 1-2 was a great place to watch every driver hug the bottom and get a glimpse of their hand / eye coordination as they rested up to figure out what groove they would run in 3-4.

Had a blast at Williams Grove last night! Walked through the pits, crossed the bridge several times, really enjoyed turn 1 and 2, but spent most of the night on Beer Hill. Someone posted that you don't need a pit pass, but I went ahead and got one. In hindsight I agree a pit pass was not necessary.
Going to Port Royal tonight. Coming from an area where they tore down our half mile at the fairgrounds a few years ago, y'all are lucky to have such great racing so close. Don't know if I will get back to this area or not, but if I do Williams Grove will be on the to-do list!

Glad you had fun man. Hopefully you can make it back. The atmosphere of the National Open or even the Mitch Smith Speedweek show is right up there with Knoxville and Eldora.
