Well said Bill, as per usual.  The 47 pit area was a stop I made at about every Knoxville race I covered for a dozen years or so.  Gil could say more with a look/expression than most can in a few sentences and Donnie always had something interesting to say, I enjoyed his thoughts and opinions.  If anyone could make you feel comfortable and where you were supposed to be on a Saturday it was these two, you got to become a part of their world for a few hours and it was special.  Good times, bad times you couldn't tell and it seemed to not matter (I know it did) but Knoxville Raceway is where they belonged on Saturday Nights.  I miss a lot of people these days and reflect back often in these later years of just how good life was back in the sprint days and it was men like Gilly Sonner who made it that way.......

One of the best things I've seen at Knoxville was when the Sonner car made the A main last year.
