Nice to have a show that took forever to start get jammed up for an hour-long track rework.
Well done, promoters. Hope the added concession/beer sales tonight make up for the people who aren't going to come back and support your track. Way to think about the long term!

Well, track still rubbered up. Entertaining race but imo not as result of the track work. Rather a result of a one-laned traffic + some of the rolling road blocks that will be running the ASCoC this year. Sheesh, some work to do on the bottom end of that roster.
Also brings up an interesting discussion point - Kerry Madsen blows a right rear in turns 3/4 coming to the white flag, is pinned on the top side of the track and no yellow is thrown, allowing Schatz to pass Shaffer on win. I understand the pit exit is on the top side of one but with a lot of cars coming to the flagstand with a car pinned and slow, seems like a yellow should have been thrown. However, definitely something that will be discussed given it led to the series' owner car (sponsored by the series' title sponsor) picking up a win.

our video went of air with about 5 laps to go, then came back on in victory lane all after the long wait.

That track is always a rubber-up hell hole. Not sure why anyone would schedule a race there?
do it in the dirt

Should they have thrown the yellow? debatable... people would have complained either way. But definitely a good, entertaining race! Way to start off the year!

Omg you have got to be kidding me, So do you think the Allstar officials also made Madsens tire go flat? How did they make sure Schatz would pass Shaffer. Please keep conspiracies to yourself, the Schatz haters will jump on board and we will have 9 threads on why the Allstars are helping a WoO driver win their races. Do you really think Tony would instruct his officials to help Donny, the winningest driver over the past decade, to help him get a win. Why, because Schatz needs the money? Or maybe they were worried Donny wouldn't get any wins this year? Or maybe it was so Arctic Cat could get a bit more publicity, because god knows the 8 million signs and mentions are not enough. Think before you spew something that makes no sense. Give me one good reason Tony would put his integrity on the line so Schatz could get a win. Good reason, not stupid nonsense about how it made Tony, Donny, or Artic Cat happy.

I rarely post anymore just because of the negativity, but for the first race of the year, I thought it was a good race that reminded me I need to make it to more Sprint Car shows in 2017 than I have recently. Obviously the track could do a better job running the show through based on some comments, but again, it was the first race of the year. I'll take any race over none, and while the track was rubbered, it wasn't one groove rubbered which is really the only 'bad' sprint car racing I see. It's one race in a season of hundreds, enjoy it for what it was, which was a competitive race between big names with some exciting moments and a close finish. Nascar is trying to figure out ways to manufacture that, sprint car racing nailed it on night one, again.

Not to play devils advocate here as I didn't watch the race, but usually the first race of the season at most tracks is a bit of a shit show. They never start on time, and given that most of the drivers are either returnging from an absence or not certain where they should be, it doesn't go very well.

As a Chevy guy that first line has me smiling. "The Chevy powered ford sponsored arctic sponsored Tony Stewart owned car winning..." Not that I don't think the team will be successful running Fords later, if that happens, but one thing we know for sure. There shouldn't be any excuses. All in good fun. Makes for more sprint conversations and debates as long as no one goes overboard.

Open wheel dirt track racing would be in big trouble without Tony Stewart. He can only carry his cohorts so far though. After last night, my 1972 Polaris 295 cc Colt is looking mighty cool.

If u havent figured it out when u head south for dirt track racing, its called southern stye: get a broom out sweep the crumbs off the hard pan add water, and lets race on the rubber-"southern style"

As a Ford guy I agree completely. A double edged sword: You'll have the best in the business running your stuff, the results better be there.

We're both here. Guess that makes us both morons First race or 96th race, rubber down on the bottom sucks.

I'm a ford guy myself but when it comes to racing I'm a dirt track sprint car guy and to me sprint cars are more about the people than the car therefor I don't care what's under the hood.
I fully believe that whenever they debut the ford it will be competitive, likely even dominant and not because it's a ford but because you will have the very best team running it with major corporate $$$ backing it that want to see it win and one of the best engine builders in the country developing it from a clean sheet of paper. I'd hate to see the bill because it'll make $50K motors seem like bargain.

Isn't Bubba always rubberdown? Not a knock, but I remember last year several drivers on Twitter saying they don't travel there anymore because it's rubberdown or the track prep is horrendous...then Bubba himself had some real nice comments to these drivers online, which hey it's his product he can protect it. I don't think the level of profanity and name calling he used was beneficial but I guess it's true to character, right?
