Here's some deals currently going to get you to I-30 Speedway's $20,000/win Short Track Nationals and $25,000 COMP Cams Shootout (visit www.i-30speedway.com and www.darinshort.com/ccc.html for more details) on October 25-27.

First off, is if you plan to fly. This deal will probably be out there only until Thursday Oct. 4 (21 day advance), but non-stop from DFW or LOVE to Little Rock is just $49 each way.

Both AA and Southwest have those fares right now. Same applies if you're just going to fly in for either the Friday/Saturday, or just Saturday show.

Just go to
www.AA.com or www.Southwest.com for flight times and details.

By quickly checking some other city pairs, you can get to Little Rock from the following cities by air for about:

Seattle $238 (that one is awesome for you NW sprint fans! Flight is on Southwest), Indy $232, OKC $237, Baltimore $288, KC $220, Phoenix $258, Houston $234, LAX $247, SFO $325, Midway $291.

Also, there are deals on rental cars over the period too at the Little Rock airport. About $70 will cover a 3-day rental.

Regarding hotels, Priceline is a good option. 'Name your price' got us a decent 2-star hotel near the race track for $45/night (including taxes, etc.). The track also has a list of host hotels on their website, at
http://i-30speedway.com/pdfs/2007_stn.pdf .

Plus, you can get a 3-day grandstand pass from I-30 right now for just $45. Just visit
www.I-30Speedway.com for details.

This race also kicks off the Short Track Shootout (visit
www.darinshort.com/shootout.html for more info), which ends at the November Sprint Shootout at Cowtown ( visit www.cowtownspeedway.com for more info); hope this info helps to save you some money getting there!

Smile

Reminder that today, October 4 is the 21-day deadline for some of these flight deals.

It's pretty cool, several people have emailed me and snagged some cheap tickets and are headed to I-30!

And I just saw the forecast, it's supposed to be 70 and sunny that weekend...

(I wish it was that easy!)

According to Paul McMahan on Win It or Wear It, he'll be in Cooper's 01

I would expect to see Craig Dollansky there as well. Just a guess.

Could you imagine if Haud joins the list of WoO invaders to tackle I-30's sticky clay? If so, might as well just give him 2 tires as he'll never have more than that on the track anyway!

With Haud's 'Front Row Challenge' win, he'd be my first pick to take on the COMP Cams Challenge, if he had the opportunity, and leave Little Rock with over $45,000 in his pocket. (Well, in Patty's pocket...LOL!)

I wouldn't be too surprised if another 4 or so WoO drivers show by the time it's all over with. The only thing I'm aware of going on that weekend is SIMA in L$V.

Bill W - you headed to the STN this year?

Craig Dollansky would be interesting. Is it realistic to expect his entry?

So is anyone else hearing about TK coming back this year and running the 01x car at the STN?

He put on quite a show last year at the STN.

And thinking back, I've got a video clip of TK's qualifying race where he started dead last and had a drag race to the finish line and win with Scott Winters who was in the process of getting the 'Wheelie of the 2006 STN' at the same time.

Here's the brief clip if you would like to relive it: http://www.darinshort.com/STN06.html

(Just scroll down the page to 'Video Clip #3' to view the TK/r19 clip.)

Winters must have sent a rooster tail of dirt 20' in the air from his rear bumper dragging.
