Haven't seen or heard any recent reports on the sale of Badlands. Anyone have any reliable rumors they'd like to share?

JMO, but I'd rather not hear anything else until they have something official to announce.   These threads go south too quickly and there's probably very few people that can do anything beyond speculation.

Wow...after your last reported rumor you might want to seek some new sources, I think your current one's kind of suck!

If SLS thinks they can make $$$, they'll lease the track and run the shows... IMO

New  week, no new rumors... sprint car racing is dying in the upper Midwest,  has been for the last few years,  even Knoxville has a hard time getting more than 20 410's for a weekly show it sucks for sprint car fans but it is what it is. What's the answer...who knows but not 10 million for a racetrack.

I disagree.  I think sprint car racing in the midwest is as strong as it ever was.

1)Jackson is now running a close to 13 nights of 410 racing.  On off nights, they have 360 shows and they have the IMCA sprints every week.  This is more 410 sprint car racing at Jackson than they have had in over 30 years

2)Park Jefferson has 13 nights of 360 racing and is also running IMCA Sprints weekly.  This track never ran more than 3 nights before.

3)Eagle has close to 25 nights of IMCA racing.

4)Rapid Speedway has 4 MSTS nights plus another 410 show.

5)Burlington is racing 305's weekly

6)Boone Speedway is adding back sprint cars weekly for the first time in 20+ years.

7)The MOWA schedule is very robust as is the IRA, providing a huge amount of touring series.

The only real downfall is that Sioux Falls does not have any weekly track, and the NSL is closed.  If the NSL were to come back and Husets reopens on Sundays, the amount of sprint car racing would be more than ever in the Midwest.  While the 410 program has taken a hit, the program is way better than it was 5 years ago before Tod Q got involved.

Before Badlands, which obvioulsy split some cars up, have you checked Knoxville car counts from previous years?

Before the Badlands move to Sat Night, Knoxville was getting at least 25 410s a week.  Not counting random  rainouts for other series'  There was usually right around 30 a week.  I know this, because I attended 15/20 weekly shows that year.  Knoxville was getting close to 90 cars each week between the three classes.  Look for 75 or more a week again

I'd say look for 100+ total cars at Knoxville weekly

If the nsl ran smaller tracks they'd still be around. Many of the smaller budget teams could not afford to keep up with the high dollar motor programs on the big tracks.

Here are the 410 numbers from Knoxville weekly shows for the past three years. These numbers do not include the one and only  WoO event that runs early in each of the seasons. The nights listed are only those nights in which time trials were run. The number sequence is from the first event of each season through the season championship night.   2014:  32, 31, 33, 36, 33, 31, 30, 27, 35, 37, 28.....average equals 32 410's per night.     2015:  38, 30, 33, 34, 42, 27, 32, 32, 30, 27, 33, 26......average equals  32  410's per night.   2016: 31, 27, 26, 25, 21, 27, 23, 21, 28, 18, 25, 21, 23, 24, 32, 21......average equals 24.5  410's per night. Each person can draw there own conclusions, and opinions of course. In my opinion, as Knoxville goes, so goes the progress of 410 sprint cars in the Midwest. To have Jackson remaining active in 410's should be a plus. Without a doubt, a third track and a third night is needed to shore up the Midwest 410 racing. The key is the return of Husets as we knew it, which could well lead to the rebirth of the NSL. Things were headed in the right direction up and until 2016.

I have listened to this until I am blue in the face as it relates to USAC midgets and POWRi midgets.   However, I call BS on  this logic when it applies to 410 sprint car racing.   If you are buying a 410, you are bypassing two "lower" divisions to get to this class.   If you have a 410, let it eat.

Another thing that drives me crazy is teams that show up in a semi-rig and trailer that cost more than my parents house, but yet complain about the high cost of racing.

I once heard a story that during the IMCA claiming engine days that someone asked Ted Johnson if could ever see that happening in the WOO.  Ted supposedly said that he saw no need for claiming a motor but thought maybe that they should have a claimer rule for the trailers.

Talk to some of the small budget teams that dropped off the tour. Some only have one motor.  You say "let it eat" and you can certanly do that but it might only eat a portion of what the high dollar teams motors are eating. All 410s aren't the same. In most cases it takes money to make horsepower. Horsepower dominates the big tracks 9 times out of 10.  No one wants to run 40 shows all over the Midwest to be competitive in only a handful of them.

I see on woosprint.com that July 1 and 2nd (Sat/Sun) that Badlands will have Outlaw FanFest.....inquired about in on the Sioux falls nmra board and someone said that they thought there may be some specials at the speedway during the year....I certainly cant confirm that, but having Badlands listed on woo would indicate that something is in the works, maybe woo is leasing it for the couple days?  interesting....would love to have racing this year at Badlands, even if it is a few specials.
