Sellers hangs onto points lead with victory at Oklahoma Sports Park
Wins $2000 In 10th Annual Oklahoma State Championship

Ada Okla. (September 10, 2016) - With only a six point lead over second place Whit Gastineau in the Ameri-Flex / OCRS sprint car point standings, Robert Sellers was in need of a win in the worst way. And that is just what he got Saturday at Oklahoma Sports Park.
Sellers led the final 7 laps to win the 25-lap main event and add his name to the OCRS Oklahoma State Championship trophy.
"i wanted a win here pretty bad," said Sellers who won for the third time in 2016. "This is a track I use to race at quite a bit. I got a win here with OCRS in the past.”
Sellers started inside the fourth row and was running third behind second place Shane Sellers and leader Sheldon Barksdale by lap 7. Shane took the lead away from Barksdale on lap 8 and Robert moved into second behind his son on lap 15.
It was looking like a possible Sellers 1-2 finish but on lap 19, Robert grabbed the lead from Shane and Barksdale climbed back to second leaving Shane in third.
"Shane was up front and I would have liked to seen him run second," Sellers said of racing with Shane. "But we will take the win."
"He was running real high and I was running low. The car was so well down low and I was picking up so much ground on him running low."
"Afterwards we talked and he told me his tires were just gone.”
After losing the lead, Shane faded to fourth on lap 21 giving way to a hard charging Joe Wood Jr.
Wood passed Barksdale for second on lap 23 but could not catch Sellers. Barksdale held onto third and points runner-up Whit Gastineau finished fifth behind Shane Sellers.
