Apparently the WoO figured out and refused to comply with that joker's demands... I.e... Elevated pit pass prices above the WoO contracted rates. So there will be no WoO sanctioning at this epic failure.

Would love to know the backstory on this but doubt it will ever see the day of light. Pretty substantial blow. Gotta imagine there are some people that pre-ordered tickets expecting the WoO that will be very unhappy with this decision.

The story is correct. I got an email at 5:35 pm today stating that the Outlaws and Badlands could not reach an agreement on a contract. Which leads me to believe that Badlands has been advertizing that this was an Outlaw show and it actually wasn't. Which in my books would be false advertizing. I wonder how many people have bought tickets thinking it was a WOO show and it never was. I wonder if Badlands will refund their money if requested.   Glen Murra

There is a explanation of the circumstances surrounding this development on Badland's web site. The WOO stiffed the former Huset's Speedway years ago by backing out of a scheduled show a week prior to the scheduled date with almost no explanation why. I'm glad to see the Badlands management stick up for themselves in this matter and to continue their plans to present The Gold Cup races again that were run with excellent car counts in the past by Huset's without any participation or sanctioning by the WOO. I look forward to attending the races at the Gold Cup regardless whether the WOO teams show up or not. The WOO title on anything doesn't mean much anymore anyway.

It's not false advertising when the WOO Have had the Gold Cup on their schedule as long as Badlands has had on theirs.

I read their statement and just can't believe it's as cut and dry as that. And it's not what the WoO adds or doesn't add in a vacuum - the race might have been fine and successful all on it's own, but the problem here is that it has been presented as a WoO race and tickets have been sold under that premise. There's no undoing that.

How interesting would it be for Jackson Motorplex to book the Outlaws for a 2 day show now that the weekend has open dates?  Press release from WoO says information released soon on new venue(s).  Where's my popcorn??!!

Here's the official statement from the track.

I love how the "official" statement still mentions the three WoO contracted drivers that pre-entered in the Gold Cup.  Notice it doesn't say they will be racing.  That is talking out of both sides of your mouth.  I sincerely doubt that any Platinum WoO members are going to run the Gold Cup and risk losing their points and status with WoO....and I am sure Badlands knows that, but they are still putting the three names in the statement.

I know this is semantics, but one could argue that they are still "advertising" drivers that they can be almost certain will not be there.  The only thing is they are giving themselves an out by saying they are registered, not racing.  Take the high road, as WoO did in their statement, and don't even bring the names up.

It reads to me like Badlands wanted the deal that Knoxville gets for the Nats, when it comes to sanctioning (run their own deal under their own rules and sponsorships, but have the WoO present), but there is no benefit for WoO doing that for a first year race.  It's not like the WoO deal with the Nationals was always so smooth either, but they finally came to an understanding because guys were revolting over not being able to run the Nationals.  I really doubt you will see the same level of angst from the drivers over the Gold Cup.

Whether it is Jackson or not, the WOO will deffinitely schedule against this date.

While I am not a Chuck fan, it appears that there was a tenative deal in place for the WOO to be there.   This is why the race was both on the WOO and Badlands schedule.   As long as there was a tenative deal, Chuck could sell all of the tickets he wanted under the WOO banner.

It has been a while since I have read the hype, but isn't this the race with the different payouts for different car levels.   It was only going to be the huge payout if there was a huge car count in both divisions.

It appears that the purse is based on a 64 car count for the Winged sprints and a 50 car count for the non-wing.  Also, the payout is very much top heavy.

Should be interesting to see a posted payout for less than these numbers.
