By coincidence, I was at Husets Saturday too.  Someone gave me a free ticket as well.  I agree with everything you've written, with the exception of the street stocks.  When they have a good field (I think the high water mark has been around 18 or so this season?) they are pretty entertaining.  They're generally fast, competitive and professional.

     A few thoughts I'd add:
*I think 2,000 might have been a little on the high side.  If you had a party of 20 who wanted to sit together, I think you could have put them anywhere.

*8 pm sharp! came and went long before any racing started.

*I'm 5'-10" tall- about average for a guy my height.  To sit in those seats in just plain uncomfortable. Something about the dimensions is just off for an average height man.  They are too shallow front to back, so that I have to site with my legs at a 45 degree angle.

*I sat for the first half of the races at the north end up high.  From my vantage point, it looked like one person could have run the concession stand, with a fair amount of free time.

*I sat in the stadium seating area for the second half.  They are almost as tight.  My knees locked in between the seats ahead of me. If you sit in the upper half of those seats, the white bar is just below the view to the track surface.  Then it's just a viual distraction and not a fence blocking your view.

*Either seating arrangement is a treat if someone needs to get by you.  You get up close and personal with strangers carrying food and beverage.  Sometimes that can be good, most times not. I didn't have anybody need to get past me Saturday.

*From the time I got to the car, to when I got up on the highway was 11 minutes flat.  This had more to do with lack of traffic that with the guys trying to direct traffic at the bottom of the hill.

*Does it seem louder to you? The paved pits, the new bilboards, the VIP towers  and the addition of a lot of aluminum up in the stands seems to make an echo chamber. My wife will swear that my hearing is going, but I've still had to start wearing  ear plugs.  (At the races, not just when listening to her.)

*Does it seem like the whole racing world is evolving to where the fast guys always seem to start up front?  Even in the heat races?

*I like the smoking in designated areas only policy.  The Academy Award goes to the old guy who totally clueless all three times that different security guards explined where he could smoke and why he couldn't just stay where he was and finish his butt.

*If I were a betting man, I'd bet there were about 6 360's in the field....and several low-budger 410's in the same speed bracket.

*The huge investment of Chuck's money seems to have brought in some ND cars on a fairly regular basis.and an occasional outsider.

*One of my sons was at the Weezer concert Friday night.  For a music venue for concerts, the average teenage kid thought everything was topnotch except for the concession prices and the $10 parking fee.  Godd thing he's too young for the $5 beer.

*I splurged on the $2.50 bottle of Mountain Dew.  I ended up helping some poor kid figure out how to make change for a $10.  Curious thing though- they would unscrew each bottle of pop sold, then thighten the cap back on before giving it to the customer. Huh?

Well done sir. I'm from Central PA so I'll likely never see it for myself but I was curious as to how it is. If people wanna tear you apart, so be it but it seems to me you just shared an unbiased and objective opinion.

Sounds like all you Knoxville fans can stop sweating Chuck and Badlands, if Ford97's unbiased (lol) observations are all true and honest you guys can stop your Badlands bashing threads. I mean according to everyone from Knoxville Chuck won't last 2 seasons with his "money pit" and lack of knowledge about the complex rocket science of running a freaking dirt track. So why are you guys still bashing a track that has no chance of sucess? What are you scared of?

Been to Knoxville 3 times this year and 3 times to Badlands and Jackson 1

 My observation

1.   Facilities and atmosphere  Badlands, very good seating at Jackson

2,   tradition Knoxville

3.   Staff a toss up  (Jackson poor employees probably will not go back some real A holes

4.    Racing one great night of racing at Knoxville tso very poor.

Badlands three solid nights of good racing.

The poorest racingI have seen so far this year Was at Jackson.

i go to about 25 races a year

this is just my  opinions

I am not a chucksucker

not a Todd hater I think he done great deal of good for sprint car racing

Wasn't it like 162 degrees Saturday night?  maybe the crowd size was affected by this?

No, I believe it was like 162 degrees the night before for Weezer and that seemed to have no effect on attendance. My car thermometer read 85 when I headed into the races.  It wasn't as hot the couple times I went before and the crowd was about the same.

It's become some sort of tradition that the weather is as hot as the face of the sun for the airshow.  Sunday, by comparison,  it was cloudy, spitting a little rain and tolerable for the airshow.

So someone gives a  review of their experience, that did NOT include the usual I hate Chuck, or Chucks a god, and you callout the ones doing the "bashing"?

Made my 1st appearance to Huset’s/Badlands for a Saturday show as well this summer.

Totally agree about the much improved facility, even though concession prices ridiculous.  And also like the 3 different classes of cars that race on Saturdays & Sundays.

I was surprised at the low turnout of fans as well.  And also agree about those white railings & that galvanized pipe should be used.

Nice to see a few more IMCA 305’s as well.  Talked to someone who helps out on the race team who formally raced micro sprints and moved up to IMCA’s this season. And said it’s cheaper to run IMCA 305’s than the micro.  And they’ve won 2 features this summer with the 305.

I have no problem paying a $20 for the Saturday show, especially when the purses have doubled over what the previous owners were paying to the drivers & charging us fans $15 @ now get to watch about twice as many outlaw sprint cars this year as in years past.  Like the fuel incentive program that’s being offered for the Outlaw sprint drivers which is bringing in many of the NOSA sprint drivers from the Grand Forks area.

We got there @ 7pm & yes it was suppose to start @ 8 but the track prep crew must have done a little extra watering of the track & 2 sets of hot laps were required.  And there were push trucks helping pack the track when I arrived. With the delay in the start time, the time trials/heats/feature, the races were completed in a little over 2 hours.

The pavement did have a little more dust, but when you have a concert the night before (and another concert 2 days earlier) there was not a whole lot of time from midnight on to move the stage & football field that covered the infield.  There’s probably going to be some things that aren’t going to be completed.

Overall I thought it was a good show as well.  Even though this Saturday the outlaw sprints car count will probably be down a few cars because of the NOSA show up in Greenbush MN.  Plan to be back this Sunday for the ASCS National tour series.

I wonder if the bleacher seats are different in different areas of the stands?  It seems logical, as I thought I read where they were bought from a broker of used stadium equipment.  Maybe I should wander more from my north end habitat.

Lol....  You were close.  The asphalt out back read 140° late Satuday afternoon When I was messing with the laser thermometer.

I will add my two cents for what it's worth. There is more seating now than before. So there would be the illusion of a smaller crowd. The 305 class isn't going to come together in my opinion. My option would be to drop them and add B-Mods to the schedule (although I would drop the micro's in favor of the B-Mods on Sunday as well, but the micro's do provide that second intermission). Not sure where all the street stocks were. And yes...the start and park 360 crowd has it figured out...but apparently O'Banion does not. The facility is really great. Concessions are only expensive because I choose to endulge.

It's funny because the best racing I've seen was a 305 show at Jackson..  Sad I know.

Can't resist... Pa. folks should take up a collection to send Altman to Badlands/Huset's/ Chuck's Money Pit

I'm sure we'll get an unbiased report wink

1). The crowds have not been that great since the oven was turned up outside. I think TK put it best when he said you step outside and even your balls hate you.

2). Can't comment about sitting in the bleachers since I am in the infield all the time. I hate sitting in the bleacher area, drives me nuts.

3). The improvements are outstanding, fixed everything around there except the race track. Can't call it a shithole any more.

4). The general program now is smoother now than at the start of the year. I guess it shows you can teach "old" dogs new tricks.

5). Track was definitely wetter at the start of the night Saturday than it was on Sunday. It's pretty much been that way all year. Hope they are able to nail the good track conditions for this Sunday night.

6). Bad thing about being in the infield is you miss the gatling gun.

7). Concessions are spendy. Hope the prices wind up dropping some.

8). Street Stock count was down this past weekend, not sure why. But, those 12 still put on a much better show than any B-Mod race there. And, if some of you think we need the B-Mods back, you're nuts. A person can not handle that many yellow flags in a race week by week. There are tracks around where B-Mods can race flag to flag without a yellow. This is not one of them.

9). Ford, I don't know what or if McCarl gets paid, don't really care either. Yes, he sucked it up on Saturday night and had nothing for Carson on Sunday night. But Carson screwed up and dumped it, giving Dad the win. You could see it coming, too.

10). The crowd was leaving a little earlier than normal Saturday night, but I suspect the heat for most of the week had more to do with that than anything. The drivers and crews were just plain tired.

11). Ford, don't need to worry about Chuck's FU money. He'll keep it up for quite some time to come. He's having a ball and he don't care about the track making a profit. If it makes money, he winds up paying more for taxes. Been told he likes having a tax write-off, too.

11a). Can Tod at Jackson upping the 410 payout for this coming Friday night to 20G's be considered FU money, as well? Also, 2nd is paying 10G, so is that more FU money? I hope they get a good car count to support that kind of money being thrown around. I like all the changes and improvements done at Jackson but................I don't know.........................it just seems like the racing still just isn't................................that great. Maybe they still need to consider shortening it up somehow.

Threebeerminimum- Re: O'Banion. Yeah- what's that about? I think I've been there maybe 4 times this year.  It seems like 3 out of 4 he loaded up after hot laps and the other time he blew up.

spot1-  I don't think you understand how tax write-offs work.
