USAC Western States Midget Series

USAC WESTERN STATES MIDGETS INVADE HANFORD SATURDAY

JUNE 23, 2016... This Saturday, June 25th, the USAC Western States Midgets will make their only appearance at the Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds in Hanford, California. Promoted by Ron Vander Weerd and Bubby Morse, the fifth point race will also showcase the USAC West Coast Sprint Cars, Western RaceSaver Sprint Cars, and IMCA Stock Cars. The pit gates will open at 3:00pm, the front gates open at 5:00pm, and racing is scheduled for 7:00pm. Since June 6, 1986, the Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds has hosted 41 USAC Western States Midget races. Robby Flock scored the inaugural victory and Cory Elliott earned his first career win last October 3rd. Billy Boat leads all drivers with six Hanford triumphs and Ronnie Day holds the 1-lap qualifying track record of 15.555, set on October 3, 1998. Entering Saturday’s show, Ronnie Gardner (Corona, California) has won three of the four races in the campaign. Driving the Six8 Motorsports’ #68 Baldozier Racing / Esslinger Engineering Stewart, Gardner ran a close second to Michael Faccinto at Bakersfield on June 4th. To date, the three-time champion holds a 30-point advantage with two Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards, four heat race victories, and 52 feature laps led to his credit. Currently tied with P.J. Jones, Jason Leffler, and Rusty Rasmussen with sixteen wins, Ronnie will be looking to continue his championship bid with his first Hanford victory.

Michael Faccinto (Hanford, California) ranks second in the championship point chase. Piloting the MF Motorsports owned #35F OSV / Lucas Oil Spike, Faccinto led all 30-laps to score the Bakersfield victory on June 4th. At press time, the second generation driver has one Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award, one heat race victory, four top-10 finishes, and 57 feature laps led on the season. Michael has three career wins and will have his sights on another feature won this Saturday night.

Sean Dodenhoff (Bakersfield, California) is third in the USAC Western States point standings. Racing his #9D Lightning Medical Pro / Torco Oil Spike, Dodenhoff finished ninth at Bakersfield. Heading to Hanford, the veteran driver has two heat race victories, three top-10 finishes, and 2 feature laps led on the season. This Saturday, Sean will be looking to score his first victory at the Kings County Fairgrounds.

Frankie Guerrini (San Rafael, California) sits fourth in the chase for the championship. Driving the family owned #63 F&F Racing / Davis Motorsports Spike, Guerrini ran eighth at Bakersfield after starting twelfth. To date, the defending BCRA Champion has one Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main win and four top-10 finishes in the campaign. Frankie will have his sights on moving up the point standings by claiming Saturday’s main event win.

Tyler Dolacki (Fresno, California) ranks fifth in the point standings. Piloting the family owned #18 Cite-Clean / Ultimate Oil Cleanup Beast, Dolacki raced to fifth at Bakersfield after starting ninth. At press time, the young driver has one Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main win, two Keizer Aluminum Wheels / Rod End Supply Hard Charger Awards, and three top-10 finishes to his credit. Tyler will be looking to earn his first main event win this Saturday night at Hanford.

Currently tenth in points, Robert Dalby (Anaheim, California) leads the chase for Rookie of the Year honors. Courtney Crone (Corona, California), Maria Cofer (Macdoel, California), Dylan Ito (Ventura, California), and Ashley Hazelton (Chatsworth, California) are also in contention.

Among the other drivers expected to be in action are Cory Elliott, Cody Swanson, Randi Pankratz, “The Hawk” Darren Hagen, “The Panda Express” Terry Nichols, Robby Josett, Troy Rutherford, Shannon McQueen, Jeff Harrington, Steve Davis, and more.

Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds is located at 801 South 10th Avenue in Hanford, California. Adult tickets are $15, Student and Senior tickets are $12, and Kids (5 and Under) are FREE.
