Cool story bro. I am sure his family will give him his lunch money like they have his whole racing career. If not, he can punt someone in a big race to earn that $50 back.

Awarding show up points does nothing except penalize the team that drove out of their way to attend your show the first two days. That's not a good look IMO.
If I'm the CJB team why would I ever support that track again except when obligated to?

They shouldn't have canceled in the first place. That's my complaint.

Hopefull they realize next year it can only be a two day show (THE LAST DAY OF THE HOLDAY WEEKEND EVERYBODY WAS READY TO GO HOME EVEN CAR COUNT WAS DOWN 10 FROM SATURDAY) and the crowd was way off.
A better thing would be for the Weikerts to work something with the Grove and make it a Fri,Sat,and Sunday deal.I

The CJB team will support the track again because they don't feel they were ripped off. The rules are laid out ahead of time. So you expected them to change the payout and points rules because Gravel had to go race at the burg? You don't show up you don't get the points, so how did gravel get screwed again?

Exactly. Although he ended up finishing out of the money, he actually ended up better off as far as points position than he would've been if they had raced. He knew what he was doing when he opted to not run Monday. To think that they got screwed or that the CJB team would in any way be pissed off at Port Royal is just plain stupid. In fact, when interviewed on Saturday night, he even said that Port Royal is his favorite track in PA. How do people come up with this shit?

I also think the $10000 to win race should be the last race not the second race,it should be the finale of the series, and yes, fri sat sun would be the best deal for the Weikert Memorial race

The Gravel situation is a tough one. Looks like Port awarded the drivers who made the tow for the third day, and were on the track, the show up points to show appreciation and to try and reward them somehow. It ended up helping 4 drivers move up in points and obviously took money away from Gravel. By no means do I feel port did that intentionally and I'm sure David knows that. And yea, if they would have raced, gravel would have fallen further in the points but only the top 5 were paid.
Again, promoters are in no win situations all the time, but I'm good with that decision.
As far as the format, I liked it. All three days had a unique format which means you had to race in your heat night 1, you needed to time quick in night 2, and night 3 you needed the luck of the draw (LOL). I saw on the heat lineups for monday hodnett was scheduled to start last. Would have been a great night. My only suggestion is to run the same two formats saturday and sunday next year and only use monday as a makeup date for either of the first two nights.

Never heard of a rain out ever counting for any type of points before. I would say it was obviously done to reward those teams that showed up for the 3rd night. Here's a novel idea; make the Weikert Memorial an All-Star sanctioned 1 day 15,000 to win show like it used to be. That was great show that drew a lot of cars.

I give Port Royal alot of credit for even getting in the Sunday night show ,alot of tracks would have stopped every time the light rain started and ended up getting rained out .
The best thing would be for the Weikerts to work with the Grove and maybe even Lincoln to make the first two nights qualifiers and make Sunday an even bigger show.
OR just go back to the All Stars with Sunday being the big night.
The Grove will tell you you cant go back down in purse for the last night you will lose fans and cars.

This is pretty funny actually! $50 to a race team is like a dollar or lunch money to most of us! I have heard he can be a dirty racer, but I haven't seen it myself/
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

I'm not sure how the teams that showed up were rewarded, they used fuel in the tow vehicles , used some fuel for motor starts and then had to rewash the cars and clean the trailers. My feeling is since they awarded points , they should have paid out tow money too. My opinion is that they gave points to purposely keep the money in the locals hands.

Send CJB a email or a tweet and ask them if they care.
