After Mother nature captured another race weekend in Petaluma, the Pit Stop USA Shootout round number 2 was on tap Saturday Night with drivers looking to double their winnings. The Pit Stop USA Winged 360’s fielded 19 cars on Jake’s Performance Hobbies night. Mr Excitement went quick time with a time of 12.670 with Klint Simpson, who pulled off the weekend sweep just a couple weeks back, and the always fast Jake Haulot rounding out the top 3. Seth Nunes, Kurt Nelson, and Riley Matson won the 3 heat race format. Nelson and Haulot would lead the field to the green flag with Nelson taking the lead and holding off Forsberg. A red flag for Haulot and Matson would bunch the field back up but Nelson was looking strong. Halfway through the main, Nelson would suffer an engine failure and would hand the lead over the Forsberg with Chase Johnson following suit. A couple late race cautions would set up a 3 lap shootout, where Chase would be able to pull up aside Forsberg as they would duke it out for the win. On the white flag lap, Chase and Forsberg would throw it all on the line but Chase would make an exciting last lap, last corner pass for his first win since 2012. Forsberg, Geoff Ensign, Kenny Drew, and Simpson would round out the top 5.

The Pit Stop USA Spec Sprints would make another return to the Petaluma 3/8th’s with 15 cars. Barry Pries and Terry Shank would pick up heat race victories. Troy Degaton and Simpson would start on the front row with Simpson taking the early advantage. Simpson and Shank would battle all the way till the end but Shank would use the bumper and make a late pass on Simpson. On the final lap, Simpson would throw a slider and make contact with Shank but he would go on to win and make it 2 for 2 in the shootout, with Shayna Silvia in 2nd, Matthew Haulot in 3rd, Troy Degaton in 4th, and Simpson would end up 5th.

Petaluma Speedway returns this Saturday Night with the Winged 360’s, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Dwarfs (w/South Bay), Mini Stocks. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.petaluma-speedway.com.
