(Oxnard, CA 5-2-16) Ventura Raceway will hold a very special event this Saturday May 7, when the Amsoil USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Car Series competes on its 1/5 mile clay oval.
This is the only appearance for these high powered, fast and exciting racers at Ventura in 2016. These powerful cars will be sharing the night with our VRA Senior Sprints and Focus Midgets. This is an event fans will not want to miss. Racing is sure to be fast and furious in all divisions competing.

The Amsoil USAC/CRA 410 Sprints are the fastest cars that race at Ventura Raceway. Saturday night all the top drivers in this series will be there to challenge the tight 1/5 mile bullring that is Ventura Raceway. Their current point leaders are April 16, Perris winner, Josh Hodges and Brody Roa with 146 points each coming into this weeks competition. Brody Roa tuned up by winning the VRA 360 Sprint Car race at Ventura last weekend. Also scheduled to compete are R. J. Johnson, last week's VRA runner up Jake Swanson, Mike Spencer, the William's brothers, Cody, Austin and Trent, the Vander Weerd brothers Richard and Jace, Damion Gardner, young charger Parker Colston, Danny Faria and many other top quality drivers who compete in this series across the Western States. These fast cars will qualify for their heat starting positions, run heat races, semi mains, if needed, and a 30 lap feature.

VRA Senior Sprints opened their 2016 season last weekend with 14 cars signed into the pits. This week they are back to continue their season, led by last week's winner Chris Meredith. Five time series champ Clif Warren will be here to try to get back to his winning ways against Meredith and a full field of great over 45 year old chargers. Scheduled to appear are Wally Pankratz, Steve Brown, Ed Schwarz, Mike Cook, Will Perkins, Russell DeBlauw and many others. These drivers race the same cars that the regular VRA 360 sprint car drivers race, the only difference is their age.

The final group racing this weekend is the VRA Focus Midgets. These spec engined midgets are the starting point for many drivers who move up from this class and are now competing across the US, racing full midget and sprint cars. Joel Rayborne, Daniel Anderson, past champion Ashley Hazleton and many other up and coming drivers will be there to put on exciting racing from the heat races to the main event.

Pit gates open at 12 noon for this event. Front gates open at 3:00 PM with qualifications and hot laps beginning at 3:30 PM. Racing gets under way at 5:30 PM. Admission for this special event are $25.00 for adults, $15.00 for Seniors, Military and Students with ID, $10,00 for kids 7-12 and kids 6 and under are free.

Not if they get three days of rain, they won't. See http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/ventura-ca/93001/weather-forecast/327140.
